Nifflers are platypus-likemagical beastsknown for hoarding gold, jewelry, and any number of other shiny objects. Most people inhabiting the world ofHogwarts Legacyview Nifflers with suspicion due to their penchant for stealing, and rightly so. During the questA Thief in the Nightplayers are tasked with tracking down a thief that has been causing all sorts of trouble in the hamlet of Irondale. As it turns out, the thief was just a rascally little Niffler.

While A Thief in the Night ends with the player having to capture the troublesome Niffler, you’ll need at least two of them if you plan to breed the creatures. But even if you don’t, you’ll still want to keep a couple of them in your Vivariums to speed up the rate at which you’re able to collect Niffler fur,an important resource needed to upgrade equipmentat an Enchanted Loom.
Where To Find Nifflers In The Wild
Nifflers are pretty common throughout Hogwarts Legacy, so you won’t have to search too hard to find one of their dens. In fact, you won’t have to search at all because you may find the locations of all the dens down below.
North Hogwarts Niffler Den
One of the closest Niffler dens you’re able to stumble upon is located in the North Hogwarts regionclose to the border with the Forbidden Forest. The area is quite dangerous, but you can get to it quickly by fast traveling to Jackdaw’s Tomb via Floo Flame and then making your way southwest from there, ideally on aflying mount.
North Ford Bog Niffler Den
This next den can be found in the North Ford Bog regionclose to the hamlet of Pitt-Upon-Ford. From the hamlet’s Floo Flame, travel straight north, and you’ll soon spot the den in a small ravine next to the edge of the map.
Hogwarts Valley Niffler Den
You can find another Niffler denjust east of Keenbridgein the Hogwarts Valley region. The den is located up a hill, so it’s best to travel via broom orHippogriffas you’ll have a more difficult time reaching the place on foot.
Feldcroft Niffler Den
The region of Feldcroft is also home to a Niffler den. The easiest way to reach this one is tostart at the Feldcroft Catacombs Floo Flame and then travel southeast along the road. This is the same den you’ll need to track down during the A Thief In The Night quest. You’ll only find one Niffler here during the quest, but after you complete it, this location will turn into a regular Niffler den with multiple specimens.
Poidsear Coast Niffler Den
This next den can be found in the northern part of the Poidsear Coast region, just northwest of the Phoenix Mountain CaveFloo Flame. If you haven’t explored that area before, you can start at Poidsear Castle and travel northeast instead.

Manor Cape Niffler Den
The Manor Cape Niffler den is a bit harder to reach than the others. You’ll want to start off at the West Manor Cape Floo Flame and find the main road leading south.Stick the road as you pass by a bandit camp, andyou’ll eventually stumble across the den next to a beach.
Cragcroftshire Niffler Den
To reach the last Niffler den you’ll need to travel all the way to the southern tip of Cragcroftshire. Start at Cragcroft andtravel south past the Astronomy Table until you reach the Hedge Maze. Once there, look to the southeast and you’ll spot some ruins that serve as a den for a group of Nifflers.
How To Catch A NIffler
Nifflers are cunning creatures, but they’re easy enough to capture even without using any spells. However, as with all magical creatures,it does tend to be easier to catch a Niffler if you sneak up on it. You can do so either by using the Disillusionment charm or by drinking an Invisibility potion, although the former tend to work better since the effects of the potion wear off pretty quickly.
To catch a NIffler simply use your Nab-Sack andpress the prompt four times. Nifflers are pretty quick, but you can immobilize them using Control spells like Glacius, Arresto Momentum, and Levioso if they needed. The Transformation charm or Wingardium Leviosa won’t work.
