Practice Makes Origami Pikmin

The origami tutorial that teaches fans how to make a Red Pikmin can be viewed in a video or can be downloaded and printed out to be read. Don’t worry about needing true origami paper, any type of construction or printer paper should work just fine, you will just need to be sure to cut it down into a similar sized square to the tutorial. For first-time origami crafters, I suggest watching the video to follow along with someone else folding the paper.

That doesn’t mean that you won’t run into some problems. In the case of the Pikmin games, you may be stuck on a level for hours trying to figure your way around atough creature that’s trying to eat your Pikmin, in the world of origami Pikmin, my hours of frustration came from trying to get the leaf top on my Pikmin to stand upright, which if you can tell from the photos, I still was not able to accomplish. But I love my paper Pikmin all the same.

When first stumbling onto this craft by Nintendo, after a quick Google search I was surprised to see that this isn’t the first time that fans have tried to make Pikmin crafts, and even origami versions oftheir favorite color Pikmin. Pikmin has been around since 2001 and like characters such as Mario or Kirby, fans love to put their own artistic twist and have a real-life version of their favorite characters to adorn their homes. I think that it’s a true testament to a game’s success when fans take to crafts of any variety to show their love for it.
