Arrowhead Game Studios’ superhit co-op gameHelldivers 2has won the hearts of fans and critics alike. The game offers players a sense of tension, panic, wonder, and elation all together.

Often dubbed as “the best game ever made,”the game has seen massive success, breaking records at its launch in February 2024. However, players of the first installment still think there are a few features that were there in the original Helldivers, but are absent in the new game.

Helldivers 2lacks this feature from the first game

Several fans believe that the transition betweenHelldiversandHelldivers 2may have brought in many positive changes. However, one of the areas the game lacks in is weapons. There are weapons like LAS-13 Trident and EXO-45 Patriot that are missing in the sequel.

Although there are chances that these weapons could make their way over to the sequel eventually, players were deprived of these weapons at least during the launch. But apart from the weapons, there is one non-significant thing that the fans think the sequel is missing. It is something simpler, something more fundamental – the humble cape spin.

A still from Helldivers 2

The first Helldivers game was twin-stick in nature and thus one could simply rotate the right stick in a circular motion to constantly spin one’s aim along with the character on-screen. Additionally, the effect also allowed the cape of Helldivers to flow and flutter gloriously behind the players, signifying a beacon of hope and liberty.

Helldivers 2brings a slight third-person element into the game causing the realistic cape physics to not work anymore. Even if players get a good spin, their cape won’t follow in kind.

Other features missing inHelldivers 2

Apart from the cape, there are several other things that players think the second game lacks. Although the sequel has ample difficulty levels inHelldivers 2, the fans think that the original could still beatHelldivers 2in this aspect. Currently, the game offers nine different levels of difficulty settings. On the contrary, the first base game along with its expansions had up to 15 difficulties. This also increased the amount of unique enemies for players to fight with.

Another feature that players feel lacks in the sequel is that the two Battle Passes in Helldivers 2have lesser rewards, especially with regards to weaponry. There are only nine primary weapons and three secondary weapons inHelldivers 2.

Moreover, some of the primary weapons have only slight variations as compared to the same base weapons. When looking at the primary and secondary weapons in the original Helldivers game as compared toHelldivers 2, one can spot quite a shocking difference.
