InHelldivers 2, it’s not just Super Earth’s enemies that can cause a headache in aHelldiver mission. Sometimes, the planet itself can throw plenty of dangerous obstacles your way, like active volcanoes and even meteor showers. These Planetary Hazards are harmful effects that can happen during a mission, and will affect enemies and allies alike.
Helldivers 2: All Stratagem Codes (PC & PS5)
if you’re looking for a handy breakdown of all Stratagem Code inputs for PC and PS5 for Helldivers 2, this guide’s got you covered.
Each planetary hazard will add a new twist in your mission’s difficulty, and without a little fore-knowldge, they can make your mission more difficult than it has any right to be. Here’s a list of all the planetary hazards you should get familiar with, and the many ways to survive them.

Meteor Storm
As the name suggests, Meteor Storms will drop meteors around the player’s location. At night, or in dark areas, you can see the general spots these meteors will land in. As the meteor approaches, a bright light will show on the ground and shrink until the meteor is seconds from impact. However, in brighter maps or during the day, these spots are much harder to spot and it can feel like the meteors are landing almost instantaneously.
The explosive radius of these meteors is also much larger than you’d think. They’re capable of wiping out entire patrols by themselves and even close bug holes if they land directly on them. While the damage is high enough to instantly kill Chargers, it still takes several meteors to land on a Bile Titan to bring one down.

Watching what angle the meteors come from and finding cover can help, but ultimately, the best defense is to stay on the move and keep an eye out for bright spots.
Tremors will create an initial shockwave that will make your Helldiver and every enemy near you flinch. After that, everyone around your Helldiver will act as though they’re moving through difficult terrain, slowing their movement. It also seems that enemies are stunned for just a little longer than the Helldiver is. This quick stun can buy you some time to line up a shot or input a stratagem before the enemies recover.

Volcanic Eruption
Similar to the Meteor Shower, the Volcanic Eruption will also rain fiery projectiles at the player’s location. However, while a direct hit will kill the player instantly, the explosion from these projectiles will both deal damage and light the area on fire.
Thankfully, these pools of fire act similar to napalm and can be traversed with a mech. If you’re on foot and must travel through an area that’s been peppered with volcanic rock, make sure you dive the moment you’re lit on fire.

Rainstorms will be a welcome planetary hazard compared to the others, since it only reduces your visibility. While problematic, it’s nothing someone withScout armor can’t fix. The map is still visible and scans will still reveal enemies, which should allow you to keep an eye on any patrols headed your way.
However, rainstorms can be especially problematic against automatons. Low visibility will obscure your vision of Commissars, Rocket Raiders, and Rocket Devastators. During a fight, stay in cover whenever you can and play conservatively around terrain just in case there’s a Rocket Devastator hiding in the rain. If you’re still paranoid about rocket launchers, bring armor with Fortified and an Energy Shield Pack so you can survive a barrage of missiles from any enemies you may have missed.

Blizzards have the same effect as rainstorms with the added effect of slowing movement. While it’s not as dramatic as the tremor’s slow, it’s still something to take into account when you’re trying to kite a group away.
The combination of these two effects can add difficulty to any mission, but Scout armor is still an effective tool to help work around them. Most Scout armor will have high enough speed to make up for the slow, and its scan effect will give you the opportunity to keep an eye on enemies despite the low visibility.
Ion Storms act similarly to the automatons' jammers - they stop Helldivers from usingall stratagems. However, unlike the automaton jammers, Ion Storms will also block usage of your map and only last for a short amount of time. Thankfully, markers placed on the map before the storm hits will still be visible on the compass at the top of the UI, so you’re able to still use that to guide yourself.
If you want to work around the Ion Storm’s effect, bring stratagem weapons that don’t rely on many call-downs to function properly. The last thing you want is to have an Ion Storm hit when you’re in desperate need of a Railcannon or an Orbital Laser.AutocannonsandRailgunsare a perfect pick because of their flexibility in the mission and abundance of ammo. ASupply Packwill also do wonders for keeping everyone (including yourself) topped off on ammo and stims during an Ion Storm.
Fire Tornadoes
Fire Tornadoes will light everything they touch on fire. While it’s not very dangerous in an open area, be careful about these hazards when you put yourself in enclosed spaces. For example, if you’re going after bug eggs, be aware of where the fire tornadoes are so they don’t block the only two exits from the area.
If you have to cross a fire tornado, dive immediately after getting lit on fire and use a stim. This will douse your unlucky Helldiver and start the healing process immediately before the fire burns away your HP.
