Since its full release in late September 2022,Groundedhas had players the world over jumping into the backyard survival game. They are shrinking themselves until they can ride a Ladybug like a Shetland Pony.

However, after hours of wandering through the backyard, there are still many things even veteran players can miss. From tricks that make crafting less of a grind to making sure your stats stay buffed properly, here are some often-overlooked tricks to make players' trek in the backyard even easier.
10Dews Dropping
Early in the game, players will be prompted on getting a dew drop from a blade of grass. This is because the dew drops are a better and cleaner source of water than that which can be found on the ground.
Most people will find the grass blade that a dewdrop is on and find a spot to smack the grass with whatever they have on hand to drop the dewdrop. There is an easier way than hunting for the right blade of grass. Simply hit the dew drop with a pebblet or an arrow to knock it down. There will be less back and forth, and you may pick the tossed/shot item back up.

9Spiderling Horders
Few things in the backyard give you a random present. Almost everything is set to be in certain spots or acquired in a particular way. That’s where Spiderlings and their Egg Sacks come into play. Smacking open a Spiderling egg sack will unleash a few of the white terrors upon your character.
Don’t leave these sacks alone though as they can contain harder-to-get items you may not have the ability to get yet. This includes Bombardier parts, Stinkbug Gas Sacks, Ladybug Heads, and more. There is no guaranteed drop with each sack, but popping them could net a nice reward for the trouble of dealing with the babies.

Going out to get food can be a task that takes up too much time. Whether it takes up too much in-game time to get your food or you have a limited amount of real-world time to play, there is an easier way to fill a character’s belly.

Traps can be made with some grass walls and clover roofs. Once the trap is built, placing in a couple of mushrooms or some mushroom slurry will attract Weevils and Aphids with the occasional Ant following them into the trap, preventing them from leaving. Congratulations. Food, pets, and even slippers have delivered themselves to you.
7Mutating Faster
Mutations are key in proceeding through the harder parts of the backyard. What mutations get unlocked are based on the mutation’s prerequisites, and some can only be done via fighting certain bosses or even eating some particular items.
Fighting mutations can seem daunting. Killing dozens or even hundreds of enemies in order to get a mutation can be hard to do. There is a way to get around that. Unless it is a mutation linked to fighting a specific enemy fighting mutations can be unlocked by fighting any enemy. This means that players that go off and fight a pile of Mites can level up faster. If there is a trap of Aphids and Weevils, those also can count towards attack-based mutations.

6Gnat Bombing
Gnats are one of the most useful resource points in the game. They also can run scarce throughout the backyard, aside from near the lanterns. There they can be found in large amounts during the early morning hours and early evening hours hovering near the lights.
Players have options when killing them for their resources, but there is a fast option later on in the game. Those that have access to the gas arrows will have the easiest time farming Gnats. Shooting a gas arrow at the lights during a Gnat swarm will kill and drop all of them to the ground or built platform below.

5Chest Storage
Storage is important in any survival game and even more so in those that have a crafting system. There are several quality-of-life improvements implemented into the structure of Grounded’s storage system that many players aren’t aware exist.
First, there is a hot-deposit item system. Once players have put a resource in a storage container, they can hold a button and all of that item in their personal inventory will be deposited into the chest. Second, there are symbols that can be assigned to chests with color options in the storage chest menu. Last, in that same menu, gamers can type a tag for storage chests to go a step further in their organizational process.

4Spinning Time
Making several of the various crafting benches is a good way to fill in a base as well as unlock better crafting recipes. The Spinning Wheel can be considered a waste by many if they aren’t aware of the benefits.

When crafting any type of rope in a character’s inventory, it takes several raw material pieces to make each crafted piece. Making a Spinning Wheel, or several wheels, will negate that issue. They take longer to craft an item, but they require fewer resources. Spinning Wheels move to a 1-to-1 ratio of materials to crafted items.
3Dried Out
Probably one of the most tedious materials to get is berry chunks. They spawn in only one section of the yard, and each berry that a player can break apart gives a few chunks. Collecting enough of these chunks to turn into Berry Leather in your inventory can be disheartening.
Like the Spinning Wheel, the Jerky Rack has a way of streamlining this process. Instead of using 3 berry chunks to make 1 Berry Leather in a crafting menu, toss it on the Jerky Rack. There, the berry chunks will convert on a 1-to-1 ratio like the ropes do on the Spinning Wheel.
2Resource Surveyors
Despite having interacted with them for the storyline, most gamers forget about Resource Surveying. After all, not much of a tutorial is given on them, and the typical first interaction with one doesn’t tell much other than having a momentary cutscene.
However, after unlocking a resource scanner, and having analyzed a resource, players can use any outpost to look up a specific resource they need. Maybe you remembered you needed more Spider fangs while in the hedge. Stop by the outpost, and you’re able to see the closest known location for that resource.
1Burg.L Chips
One of the best ways to get more Raw Science is by completing missions for Burg.L. Going out and bringing him back some of his Burg.L Chips will net a large amount of raw science per chip. If you get one of these as a daily quest, then they’re worth doing.
Players that wander around looking for other resources can naturally stumble upon these chips before Burg.L asks for them. Pick them up even if they haven’t been requested. You’ll still get the Raw Science when turning them in for a daily request, and you won’t have to make the trip again.
