Back in June, DCU’sLanternsscored a straight-to-series order under the HBO banner, which will be helmed by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King, with theOzarkcreator set to serve as its showrunner. It was also speculated that the DC studios were eying to cast Josh Brolin as an experienced Hal Jordan, but it no longer seems to be the case.
With Emmy winner Kyle Chandler now reportedly attached to the gig, one Industry Insider speculated that it might’ve to do with budgetary concerns in the DC studios.

While the initial speculations surroundingJosh Brolin‘s Green Lantern took some fans by surprise, as we’re yet to witness a competent young Hal on the silver screen, Brolin did fit the bill for a more experienced Emerald Knight. Although Warner Bros. Discovery did register a whopping$10B lossin the second quarter, mostly due to the declining trend of its traditional TV operations, there isn’t enough weight behind the aforementioned claims. Moreover, according toTHR, it was Brolin’s decision to pass on the gig. While no other details are available on the subject, it’s not hard to see why Brolin wouldn’t be open to any major CBM role after Thanos.

On the flipside, despite reportedly passing onLanterns, theOldboystar didteasea potential return of his MCU counterpart.
