American actor Grant Gustin kickstarted his acting career in 2004 while still in high school. He had landed a role in the movieRain,in which he played the role of a mute young man who helped a man solve the mystery of his wife’s murder with visions he was getting. The director/producer, Neil Grochmal, had said that Gustin would have a great future in acting, and he wasn’t wrong.

Years later, Gustin did what could be regarded as one of the most important roles he has played to date. That role is none other than that of the DC superhero character Barry Allen, popularly known as The Flash. This role catapulted him to fame, and for those wondering if he would ever return as The Flash, he has put forward one condition under which he would do so.

Grant Gustindropped out of school to play the role of Baby John in the Broadway revival ofWest Side Story.Months after getting done with his Broadway role, he secured the role of Sebastian Smythe, an openly gay member of the Dalton Academy Warblers, in the TV seriesGlee.

This was followed by a couple of other roles before he was cast as Barry Allen in the second season of the superhero seriesArrow. Although he was supposed to appear in only three episodes, with the last one serving as the backdoor pilot for a spin-off seriesFlash, his performance led to the cancellation of that one in favor of a standalone pilot, namedThe Flash.

The show premiered with such a great response that The CW did not let go of Gustin until 2023. Having played the character for 10 years, one would think that Gustin had grown tired of it, but that does not seem to be the case as he recently said that he would reprise his role if James Gunn asked him to (viaDC Film Newson X). He said:

“Yeah, if James Gunn asked me to play The Flash, I would do it. I trust James Gunn.”

With DC Studios CEO James Gunn and Peter Safran rebooting the franchise, it is hard to tell which actor will make a comeback and which one won’t. However, it is good to know that Grant Gustin is not opposed to playing the character again if Gunn needs him to.

“The people. I did it for nearly 10 years. I was 23 when that show started and 33 when the show ended, and grew up, and learned a lot of who I was, and just matured a lot throughout the process, and was surrounded by cast and crew that became family. I mean, it’s so cliché, but it’s true.”

Gustin went on to say that since he had spent much more time with the cast and crew than his own family, they had become family to him so it was hard for him to believe that they would not be in the same room again.
