GoldenEye 007 is always considered one of the best video game adaptations of the 007 movie series, however, the strange fate of the game kept this away from modern consoles and gaming platforms for a long time.
Recently, it was announced during a Nintendo Direct that GoldenEye 007 would be coming to Nintendo Switch as a part of the N64 games through the Nintendo Switch Online service. Soon after this announcement, the original developer of the game Rare also revealed that they had started working on an enhanced port of GoldenEye 007 for Xbox consoles.

The game was supposed to be published again as a part of the Rare Replay collection, but the complexity of the licensing issues avoided the studio from re-launching the game at the time.
“To be honest, it took us longer than I wanted it to. We tried to get it lined up for when we did Rare Replay back in 2015, which I guess was Rare’s 30th anniversary,” said Duncan when talking about the re-release of GoldenEye 007 in a GI Live panel. “As you can imagine, things involving licenses and published games just have complexity. So my answer to your question is there were lots of conversations, lots of conversations with our friends at Nintendo, the folks at MGM, the folks at Xbox, and we just kept talking until we made it happen. We made it happen, so I’m proud of that.”
Currently, there is no exact release date for the re-release of GoldenEye 007, but the team is trying to deliver it in 2023. The enhanced version of the game will support 4K resolution on Xbox Series X and Xbox One X consoles. Also, you will be able to receive achievements in the improved version.
