In these matches, you’ll often find the ghost to be a bit of a menace, so you’ll want to make good use of every tool in your arsenal to catch the ghost and destroy its pesky rifts.

The V.A.D. is one such gadget at your disposal, and it can be a lifesaver when you’re chasing down these slimy ghosts. The V.A.D. is essentially a grapple gun that will catch onto a ledge and pull you right up. The V.A.D. will allow you to get around the map more easily than ever before, allowing you to chase the ghost in scenarios where you might otherwise be stuck.
When To Use The V.A.D.
Those ghosts are slippery little fiends and have a major advantage over the Ghostbusters because they can fly. When you might be closing in on a ghost, it can move up to the second level of a building with ease, leaving your Ghostbuster to take the stairs or lose the ghost entirely. It’s a frustrating experience that the V.A.D seeks to solve. You can use the V.A.D whenever you see those little green triangles on a high-up ledge or balcony. Before you go looking for the stairs, make sure you aren’t surrounded by little triangles that will help you overcome these obstacles with ease.
It’s worth noting that there’s no bad time to use this grappling ability. It doesn’t cost a resource of any kind or energy. There’s no cooldown on it, meaning you may grapple up, jump down, and grapple again to your heart’s content. Keep in mind that the grapple could help you reach any number of things. You could get to a scared citizen quicker. You could spota collectibleand grapple your way up to it. All of the options are at your disposal, and there’s no downside aside from the fact that the V.A.D. takes up a gadget slot. So, later on, you could choose to ditch it for another ghostbusting device. If you do end up wanting to change your devices during the match, you’ll need to go to the gear cart near the beginning of the level.

How To Use The V.A.D.
As said before, you want to look for the little triangles. Once you have found the triangles, you’ll want to point your reticle at them until you’re given the prompt to grapple with the appropriate button on your controller or keyboard. Hold down that button or key, and you’re off swinging to your new destination. In all honesty, you might never have to retake the stairs, and why would you want to? Ghostbusters is full of these fun little gadgets and abilities, which is excellent because the ghost makes for a formidable foe.
