Xboxhas made several attempts to ensure it is not left behind in the“console wars”.From acquiring studios left, right, and center to launching a more economical entry point in the current console generation, none of it stopped PlayStation from ruling the console market.

In the industry, video game showcases, and game fests have become platforms developers use to announce new titles and share details about the ones announced already. Geoff Keighley also recently announced the date for the Summer Game Fest, and as it stands, the date seems to add some more weight to a rumor that it has the potential to end the console wars.
An Xbox to PlayStation announcement rumor that could change everything
Starfieldwas supposed to tip the scales in Microsoft’s favor. However, after mixed reception, it didn’t prove to be the magnum opus of an exclusive it was hyped up to be. Recently, there were rumors of Xbox exclusives going multiplatform, and the list of titles in the rumor also included Bethesda’s latest.
Xbox Exclusives Starfield and Indiana Jones Aren’t Completely Ruled Out of Multi-Platform Switch According to Phil Spencer
While titles likeGrounded, Hi-Fi Rush, Sea of Thieves, andPentimentwere later confirmed to be coming to platforms like thePlayStation5 and the Nintendo Switch.
Starfielddidn’t cut it; many believed it to be good news because if it had been included, Microsoft would have been throwing in the metaphorical towel against Sony.

Now, a reputed leaker has also shed light on when gamers can expect the title on the PS5:

However, a game cannot come out towards the end of the year before its marketing begins at least six months prior. This means that the title would need a platform for announcements, and that is where Keighley’s announcement comes in.
The Summer Game Fest date announcement makes the Starfield to PlayStation rumor feel more plausible
As mentioned earlier, Kieghley’s announcement about the Summer Games Fest was posted only some time ago.

And it is perhaps the best opportunity to announce the title’s arrival on the PlayStation 5.

While Phil Spencer has gone on record to say that only the four titles already announced will be coming to other platforms, and he denied that the Bethesda RPG won’t make the list. He has also not ruled it out entirely.
Xbox chief Phil Spencer doesn’t rule out Starfield and Indiana Jones coming to PS5. “I don’t think we should as an industry ever rule out a game going to any other platform.” Full interview here:https://t.co/EouWdu1LO3pic.twitter.com/FrJLDLWrod

So overall, it could be anyone’s guess what Microsoft’s next move will be, whether they will forego the exclusivity for the title and go for a different strategy or keep the claim they made in 2021 duringStarfield‘s announcement.
But it still makes sense to ask if gamers even want the title to go multiplatform. Would it be the end of the competitive spirit between the two giants and lead to Sony emerging as the sole conqueror of the industry?
