Gears of Waris one of the most popular franchises out there, and after a five-year wait, fans now know that another title is soon coming their way. Xbox announcedGears of War E-Day, a prequel at the Xbox Games Showcase 2024 that will take players back to Emergence Day.
While fans were hoping forGears 6, they are happy that they will get to know the origin stories of series heroes Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago. The franchise creator, Cliff Bleszinski, is expecting to see something in the prequel, which would be epic, but the game will have to break the timeline.
Gears of War Creator Wishes to See an Emotional Moment in the Prequel
Emergence Day is when the Locust made themselves known to the planet of Sera, and the fight of the iconic duo, Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago, against the horde began. Theprequel title goes back to basics with its horror theme and horrifying Locust enemiesand has more than ever for some of the iconic moments.

After the surprise announcement ofGears of War E-Day, franchise creator Cliff Bleszinski took to X/Twitter, discussed the trailer, and praised developer The Coalition for not needing him to make a good game. He further said that the game might feature a“heart-wrenching scene”where Dom rushes to save Maria before she is taken by the Locust.

For those unaware, Maria was the wife of Dom and had two children. Her parents and children were killed by the Locust during the Emergence Day attack, and she lived the rest of her life with a stranded group. This group, along with Maria, was captured by Locust and taken to a labor camp.
Fans Are Not Ready for the Heartbreaking Moments in E-Day
Dom found Maria at the prison camp inGears of War 2, after ten years of searching, but she was lobotomized, and he had to end her suffering, which also broke him. Now, if the scene Bleszinski is suggesting were to be featured, it would break the established lore.

Gears of War 2is set 14 years after the events ofGears of War E-Day. So the developers could either ignore it or include it, but at a cost. The idea ofE-Dayfeaturing Maria and Dominic is quite thrilling, and fans are hyped about the possibility of it happening.
I really don’t want this game changes the lore, i mean Maria went missing till 4AE, but we could see how Dom and Maria notices that Marias parents and their children got killed in the EDay that could have more impact.

However, many have said that they are not ready for it, just because of the heartbreak alone. One fan said that Dom turning up to save Maria would mess with the lore, but Maria’s parents and their children will have more impact in the game.

Fans think that there is a solid chance that The Coalition will ignore this and not mess with the lore, but if it happens, they are not ready for the heartbreak again and have been through enough in the original trilogy.
