Gears of War: E-Dayreveal at the Xbox Game Showcase 2024 took most people by surprise, and for good reason. While there were a lot of rumors about the franchise making a comeback, a prequel caught everyone off-guard.

The game revisits the golden age of the series by taking the timeline 14 years behind the first game starring Marcus Fenix. However, despite the revisit, there should be a mission archetype that the game should steer clear of.

There are a couple of driving missions in games that are primarily shooters, but the problem with the way Xbox’s third-person shooter franchise is that it is based on shock and awe.
Driving a sluggish vehicle and using mounted guns is no fun, and it doesn’t help when such missions require almost no skill and just pure luck. So, the upcoming title in the franchise is better off excluding missions of this kind and restricting any driving necessary to the lore to cutscenes and cinematics.
