John Bradley InGame of Thrones
David Benioff and DB Weiss’3 Body Problemreunites them with theirGame of Thronesactors John Bradley, Liam Cunningham, and Jonathan Pryce. Bradley and Cunningham are seen in the teaser of the Netflix series, with Bradley seen in a fantasy setting yet again. While it is not clear in the teaser where exactly Bradley’s character would be entering and influencing the plot, he seems to be a prominent character.
Bradley played the role of Samwell Tarly inGame of Thrones. He was the loyal friend of Jon Snow, meeting him at the Night’s Watch and being protected by him. He was an avid reader and was fascinated with books in the show. He was also overweight and did not fare well in battles and described himself as a coward.
John Bradley’s portrayal was lauded by critics and he was seen as the perfect companion for the heroic Jon Snow. He was regarded as a worthy ‘Sam’, a companion to heroes in many fantasy novels and films, such as Samwise Gamgee inLord of the Rings. Series author, George RR Martin stated at the 2014Comic-Conthat he would be similar to Bradley’s character in the show. He said,
“I would probably be Samwell Tarly. I love Sam, too. He’s a great character. Tyrion might be who I want to be, but Sam is probably closer to who I actually am. The fat kid who likes to read books and doesn’t like to go up a lot of stairs.”
The3 Body Problemalso sees Liam Cunningham feature heavily in the teaser as another person tasked with figuring out the mystery. He is hinted at entering the alternate reality through a VR-like device.
