The 2025 anime roster just got a whole lot better with the announcement of theGachiakutaanime. Kei Urano’s manga debuted in 2022 and is already grabbing eyeballs all over the world. The upcoming anime adaptation is bound to bring even more attention to the beloved series.
But nothing goes without a hitch in the anime/manga world. This time, it came in the form of a simplistic art style. While simple art is preferred in some anime,Gachiakutais not the most suitable for it.

Sakamoto Dayswas one of the most anticipated Winter 2025 anime. Fans had been looking forward to seeing their favorite rotund assassin come to life. However, a huge ball was dropped on their head when the anime actually aired.
Fans were quick to notice that the anime had an overly simplistic art style. While day-to-day scenes looked fine, it was theaction scenes that were heavily impacted. Complaints flooded discussion forums where the general consensus claimed that the anime could not capture the dynamic action sequences of the original manga.

A newteaser promotional video, as well as a character visual for the protagonist, Rudo, was shared by the anime staff. But fans were quick to notice that Rudo suddenly looked like any other black-haired anime protagonist. The anime studio seems to have strayed from the iconic art style of the mangaka, Kei Urano.

Gachiakutahas a very rustic and detailed art style, and the protagonist reflects the same. An anime visual is supposed to draw in viewers towards a series. But in this case, the exact opposite has happened, as fans just want to ditch it after seeing the gross straying from the original art style.

When creating an anime adaptation, one can either modify the original art to make it look even better or copy it. However, Studio Bones has done none of the above and instead resorted to simplifying the art, much to the chagrin of fans. For now, all that’s left to do is to wait for the actual trailer and hope it isn’t butchered like the visual.
