Mounjaro or tirzepatide, a similar drug, awaits approval for weight loss but is used off-label. Semaglutide and its counterparts, like Ozempic, work by curbing appetite. Despite reported side effects like muscle loss, nausea, and diarrhoea, weight often returns after treatment cessation. Charles Barkley
NBA star Charles Barkley shared onThe Pat McAfee Showthat he shed over 60 pounds in six months by using Mounjaro (tirzepatide), a competitor to Ozempic. He combined it with healthy eating and exercise, starting at 352 pounds and now aiming for 270 pounds.
“It’s been great, I’m starting to feel like a human being not a fat-ass anymore,” Barkley said, adding that his motivation is to live longer.

“It’s been amazing,” he said. “My doctor, she is amazing. I know a lot of people take Ozempic, but my doctor prefers Mounjaro.”

Amy Schumer
During a June 2023 appearance onWatch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Amy Schumer shared her experience with Ozempic, stating she used it about a year ago. While acknowledging weight loss, she revealed the drug made her so sick that she couldn’t engage in activities with her 3-year-old son, Gene.
“You’re like, ‘OK, this isn’t livable for me,’ but I immediately invested because I’m like, ‘Everyone and their mom is gonna try it.‘
Everybody (is) lying, everyone’s like, ‘Oh, smaller portions,’ like shut the f*** up, you’re on Ozempic or one of those things,” she said. “Just be real with the people.”
Schumer expressed initial investment in the drug due to its popularity but criticized celebrities who are not honest about using weight-loss medications and she also advised people to be more transparent about it in general.
