NetEase’s newest hero shooter has been making waves on PC, and it’ll finally be coming to consoles very soon.
Bad Guitar Studio, a subsidiary of NetEase Games, hasrevealedthat their 5v5 hero shooter FragPunk will be launching on PS5 and Xbox Series S|X on April 29.
The developer has alsoannouncedhow console players will be compensated for the delay, including limited-time event rewards they would have missed since the start of Season 1.
The console versions of FragPunk were supposed to launch day and date with the PC version, butthey announced the day before release that, due to “unexpected challenges in optimization and adaptation” as they were going through compliance testing, they made the choice to delay the console launch, but that there would be compensation.
Compensation For The Delay
The developer says “plenty of gifts” will be distributed to newly-registered console game accounts, and will include “exclusive time-limited event rewards” given outfrom the start of Season 1 up to April 29.
The game is free-to-play, but those who purchased the Pioneer Bundle on console will be eligible for additional compensation. Bad Guitar Studio will provide a list of compensation items closer to release.
The console version will include both crossplay and cross-progression with PC, as well as some optimizations like enhanced aim assist to ensure balance between controller users and players on mouse and keyboard.

FragPunk is a 5v5 hero shooter with 13 playable Lancers and hasa unique mechanic called shard cards, which provides each team with a randomized selection of modifiers they can apply mid-game, such as giving enemies big heads, only allowing melee weapons, and more.
While it hasn’t attracted the same kind of playerbase as Marvel Rivals or Overwatch 2, it’s been successful enough, with a day-to-day peak between 10,000 and 20,000 players followingits very successful launch, according toSteamDB.
The hero shooter genre is an extremely crowded market withsome incredibly strong contenders, so it’s nice to see one that tries something new and different and makes a real effort to stand out. Hopefully it will be able to establish more of a presence with its console launch.
