The trailer, focusing on the game’s magic parkour system, is now live on both thePlaystationandSquare Enix YouTubechannels and has a lot to show off. The core resource for parkour will be stamina, as many traversal techniques that Frey can pull off will require it. Square has explained one of the earliest traversal techniques that players will learn is flow, which will act as a sprint but will consume stamina as long as it is active. To offset this stamina usage and not slow player movement down, combining it with another move called rush will give a quick boost of speed while also regenerating a tiny bit of stamina.

As the trailer continues, it reveals a few other ways that players can chain traversal techniques to stay aloft, zip around, or even float gently to the ground while avoiding fall damage. The trailer also details a few side objectives that, when completed, will reward players with lower stamina costs or increased stamina regeneration. Both appear to be vital to survival in the world of Athia, which may beless Isekai and more Narou in design.

Forspoken follows the story of Frey Holland, who is spirited away to the world of Athia, where she must learn to wield new magical powers or fall prey to the dangerous denizens of the world.Square Enixhas provided increasingly more information as the game’s release date nears, with recent previews covering many of the game’s mechanics, including the spellcasting and magic systems. Most of Frey’s actions will revolve around her magical prowess, with the movement system continuing that same trend.

Ina press release from Square Enix, released in conjunction with the launch of this deep-dive trailer, the developer revealed that this is one of three deep-dive trailers leading up to the game’s release on January 24 of next yearfollowing a series of delays. The next planned deep-dive trailers that cover even more of Frey’s magical combat skills and world exploration will release on November 3 and November 10, respectively.
