Ironwood Studios used the State of Play to reveal their current project, Pacific Drive, a road-likesurvivalgame set in the Pacific Northwest. According to the developer team, players will scavenge for resources on the surface to upgrade their cars to protect themselves from surrounding threats. “In 1955, the United States government seized a region of the Pacific Northwest by eminent domain. The Olympic Peninsula became the staging ground for promising new technologies, but these utopian creations came at great cost: severe radiation, environmental collapse, and supernatural horrors. The government walled off the area and established the Olympic Exclusion Zone. What happened inside was never disclosed.” Blake Dove, communications and marketing specialist at Ironwood went on to share a brief story of the game on thePlayStation blog.
Ironwood Studios outlined in the game’s press kit that when players get out of their car to scavenge resources or make repairs, they will feel vulnerable as if something is lurking around. Emphasizing creativity and experimentation, Pacific Drive allows players to shape their journey as players explore Pacific lands with surreal anomalies. They can also outfit their lifeline with defences to pass through drastic routes. As also stated in the announcement, players will roam around a zone featuring legends and tales.
The developer team has been working on Pacific Drive for the past three years, and it has finally reached a level that everyone would be satisfied to reveal. Pacific Drive is planned for release on PlayStation 5 and PC sometime in 2023. Make sure to checkout the official reveal trailer above for the first look at Pacific Drive.
