Ubisoft already has a bunch of anticipated titles in development, which is exciting, but the negative part is none of them has an exact release date yet. The company’sUbisoft Forward eventis expected to reveal the release date for all of the confirmed projects so far while revealing some other unannounced titles such asFar Cry 6.
According to new rumors coming fromGameReactor, Ubisoft is planning to officially announceFar Cry 6during its E3 alternative showcase on July 12th. As per the source,Far Cry 6will feature a more exotic location this time around, which is not the US. The game is expected to launch before April 2021 for both current-gen and next-gen consoles, but the COVID-19 challenges might force the developers to push it back to a later window.
If you take a look back at the release dates of theFar Cryentries over the last years, Ubisoft usually intends to bring the mainline iterations once in four years, however, this rule once interrupted withFar Cry 4which was released only two years after its predecessor. LaunchingFar Cry 6in early 2021 means that it is about to arrive three years afterFar Cry 5, which makes sense considering the arrival of next-gen consoles later this year.
Far Cry 5was big progress for Ubisoft afterFar Cry Primal, introducing some new features in the series for the first time and delivering a fun and easy-to-learn gameplay style which makes you feel comfortable with everything in the game. That said, it’s still standing far behindFar Cry 3which is considered as the best entry of the franchise so far.
