RecentCall of Dutytitles have been ones that gamers love to hate. They upset many people who are series veterans because the latestCODtitle didn’t do anything to justify its price tag.Warzone, a free-to-play Battle Royale mode based on theCall of Dutyformula, has also not been spared criticism due to its questionable additions, elements, and mechanics.

Call of Duty Warzone’s Season 1 Reloaded goes live on January 17.

The game had come under fire again recently because the devs introduced a cover exfil feature to Warzone that did not go down well with fans of the title. Fans started calling out the developer for incorporating an extraction shooter mechanic into a battle royale. They questioned why it was even seen fit to add a feature that would defeat the whole purpose of Battle Royale: survival. Now, in a rare turn of events, the team behind the title has done something about the outrage caused by the feature.

Call of Duty Warzone to change Covert Exfil Feature

To establish some context, the feature was introduced when Season 1 Reloaded was announced by the team on the official website as a blog post. Various offerings forCall of Duty Modern Warfare 3andWarzonewere mentioned in the announcement. Season 1 Reloaded goes live on January 17.

One of the offerings was the covert exfil feature for the Battle Royale title. It was summarized in the announcement as:

Call of Duty Warzone’s covert exfil feature was criticized and hence, won’t launch with Season 1 Reloaded.

Players can now exfil the match early with the help of a Covert Exfil, offering a new win condition for those able to pay the price for the ride out – if you can secure it!

The feature offered players players an option to end the match prematurely and get a win in a very unconventional manner. This could be done by purchasing the covert exfil from the buying station. It was revealed that only five units of the exfil would be available for purchase in a match, with each costing a fortune and sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Players were not having it and took to social media platforms like Twitter to express their disapproval.

As per the latest update, Raven Software has taken some action about the feature and has stated that the feature has been delayed until further notice. This was announced in a Twitter post by Raven Software’s official account on the social media website. The post stated that:

Over the last few days, we’ve seen your feedback about the Covert Exfil feature and have decided not to launch it in standard Battle Royale with Season 1 Reloaded next week. We believe that Covert Exfil and the gameplay loop it provides, paired with the Weapons Case, will make for an exciting addition to #Warzone. That said, we’ll instead launch both of these features in an upcoming dedicated mode.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Made Larian More Money Than MCU Did in The Marvels

It makes sense because the nature of the title sees players competing with each other to ensure that they or their team remains the last team standing. Now, the announcement, when read thoroughly, also states that a new mode will be coming to the title, which will have the feature present.

It makes sense to wonder if DMZ would be coming back, which was previously rolled out as an experimental feature dubbed Beta feature by the game. While this news means that there will be less new content coming to the title as and when Season 1 Reloaded rolls out, some players were excited about the feature, and most were delighted with the announcement, as visible from the comments on the post.

Comments filled with Ws in the post’s comment section were found. That said, the new Champion’s Quest and the NVG Gulag feature being rolled out still stand to ensure that the game mode is getting something new. Warzone is now available to play for free on the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, and Microsoft Windows.
