The long list of nominations for the BAFTA Awards 2024 has finally been unveiled. But, Charles Melton, who garnered widespread acclaim for his portrayal inMay Decemberhas been snubbed this year. This has surely left the fans enraged who claim that he is more than deserving to be acknowledged for his efforts.

Melton is one of the breakout stars for his work in the drama movie which stars Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore in the lead role. The former plays the supporting role of 36-year-old Joe Yoo, who is in a relationship with Gracie (Moore) which started when he was 13 years old. Despite his incredible performance, the BAFTA longlist missed his name leaving fans enraged over the same.

On Friday afternoon, BAFTA released the longlists consisting of possible contenders in their awards category among which the deserving one will get recognition in the near future.

In the Best Supporting Actor category, the longlist contains the name of 10 stars. Among the personalities include Robert DeNiro forKillers of the Flower Moon,Robert Downey Jr forOppenheimer,Ryan Gosling forBarbie,Mark Ruffalo forPoor Things,andJacob Elordi forSaltburnamong others. Even though the competition is quite intense, the absence ofCharles Meltonfrom this longlist did not sit well with fans. Many couldn’t help but point out that the snub is surely something Melton didn’t deserve given the intense work he performed inMay December.

The TV star worked alongside Julianne Moore and Natalie Portman in the 2023 drama movie,May December.Given that it was his first feature film, he quickly caught audiences’ attention with his skills.

Rogers TV’s Eric Marchen has a pretty good review for the movie as he praised Melton’s portrayal.

“Director Todd Haynes’ subversive pastiche finds a great deal of sincerity in Charles Melton’s revelatory performance.”

Meanwhile,Roger Ebertwrote, “Melton delivers one of the year’s most unforgettable and shattering performances.”

Loosely inspired by the Mary Kay Letourneau scandal, the movie revolves around Portman’s Elizabeth Berry, an actress who meets Moore’s Gracie Atherton-Yoo to study her life as she sets to play her in a movie.

The movie is now available on Netflix.
