Yuki Tabata’sBlack Cloverhas great villains among its cast, and their ruthlessness and ambitions are boundless. Even among these menacing villains, Zagred’s actions are bone-chilling. He stands out for fulfilling his goals at the expense of other characters. His introduction in the anime and manga changed the momentum of the arc for the better, making the storyline more exciting.

He could be compared to the likes of Aizen for his developmental arc. The hatred that fans direct at him speaks volumes about the perception they have of him. The strong emotions he evokes in the audience explains exactly how well-written he is.
Yuki Tabata Went All Out with thisBlack CloverVillain
Zagred was introduced to us during the Elf Reincarnation Arc. For a major part of that arc, the elves were the villains. With Licht at the center, their attack was aimed at seeking revenge on humans for the massacre of their tribe. Many humans were killed and the Clover Kingdom incurred a lot of damage. It was later revealed that Zagred was behind the attack on the Clover Kingdom. Not just that, but years ago, he created a rift between Lemiel and Licht.
Yuki Tabata Can Never Beat One Piece and Naruto But Black Clover Does Have a Way to Surpass Jujutsu Kaisen and My Hero Academia
His goal was to acquire the five-leaf grimoire and find a host. Both the massacre and the reincarnation were part of his plan. While these motives could fit any other villain, what made Zagred worse was his sadistic personality. He actively enjoyed the fight between Licht and Lemiel’s after the massacre. He also boasted about his actions and manipulation while revealing everything to Asta and Yuno.
He derived great pleasure from his evil deeds and even thousands of deaths didn’t deter him in the least. There was no sign of remorse, rather pride in his actions and the suffering they caused. A part of his plan also turned some magic knights against the Clover Kingdom. We witnessed how Luck’s possession affected Asta, Magna, and Vanessa. Luck wasn’t the only one under his control.

Zagred: The Embodiment of all Things Evil
With Zagred, it seems like he was truly committed to the evil within him.Yuki Tabatadidn’t cut corners with his character and made him purely evil. The menace and the dedication to causing suffering make Zagred the most evil villain in the series. Moreover, he never needed a reason to become the embodiment of all-things evil. This is something most fans of the series agree on wholeheartedly.
Besides the hate that he rightfully deserves, it should be noted that he amplified the stakes with his appearance. His actions gave us some of the best emotional moments and fight sequences. There wasn’t a single character who wasn’t affected by his selfish motives in one way or the other. He was a character who truly lived up to his status as a villain.

Black Clover Theory is a Much Better Explanation for Asta’s Anti-Magic Than What Yuki Tabata Gave us
His desire for power and his evil tendencies showcased the absence of any human emotions, highlighting the difference between him and a devil like Liebe. There’s no other way to make peace with his character other than loving and hating his presence simultaneously, and that’s what all the fans have seemingly agreed on.
Black Cloveris available to stream on Netflix.
