Spider-Man is quite a fortunate character when it comes to its adaptations. Be it the live-action film, the Spider-Verse series, or games, the character is not all too difficult to get wrong considering just how multifaceted he is. Tom Holland’s portrayal of the character takes on a similar tone, going from a skeptical choice on Marvel’s part to an iconic version of the character.

So much so, that fans went from labeling him as the worst in portraying the character to one of the best to date. However, a recent update may pour water over all of the work Holland has put into making the character a beloved one.
Two Characters Could Return For Spider-Man 4
Since the end ofSpider-Man: No Way Home, fans have been very curious about where Peter Parker is going to end up. Having turned into a broken shell of a person, who no one remembers, to say that the next film will be tragic is an understatement. However, the most recent addition to the list of theories could completely change the sentiment fans hold for the series.
During an interview withCosmic Circus, Alex Perez talked about what can be expected from the nextTom Hollandfilm, and it is safe to say that his answer is not a satisfying one. He revealed that the film will star the Green Goblin and Doc Ock yet again.

“Finally getting that depressed Peter Parker”: The Reported Biggest Enemy of Tom Holland in Spider-Man 4 Has us Convinced This Movie Will Make Us Cry
I know many people are curious as to how exactly they will do Doc Ock and Green Goblin again when the time comes. I’d just like to let everyone know, the whole world was watching the final fight during No Way Home. And it may or may not have inspired a couple of people in the MCU.
Perez elaborated, stating that the creators of the third film realized just how many people were interested in the film and just how much attention it got. Thinking this was what fans wanted, they seemed to be leaning towards bringing these characters back. Taking advantage of the multiverse concept, the writers could make him fight his past foes again.

There Is A Lot of Untapped Potential
While Marvel Studios may think that they are fulfilling the wishes of the fans, they could not be further from what they want. Spider-Man is one of the most versatile and complex characters. This is perfectly represented in his villains, who come from all backgrounds and intentions, and their styles are completely different.
From King Pin to Silver Sable, Mephesto, Kraven, The Sinister Six, and even Venom, the list is endless. Additionally, the first threeTom Hollandfilms have already set up many storylines that are yet to even be acknowledged. A piece of Venom was left behind, Miles Morales’s uncle knows Parker, the kid who died on a school trip who could potentially be Harry Osborn, and even teased Ned’s eventual turn to the dark side.

I could see this as the reason they bring in The Hobgoblin…but Doc Ock? Nah.

Nope don’t really want this, rather see Eddie Brock’s Venom, Scorpion, Tombstone, Chameleon, Kraven, Hobgoblin and Kingpin be the villains for the next trilogy.

It’s hard to get excited for anything MCU nowadays
Enough with the rehashes

Can we, like, get a new villain? Does Spidey have more than 4 enemies?

Even Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland Could Not Escape This Spider-Man Trend
Knowing just how many stories are yet to be explored, fans are quite upset at the franchise for reusing characters, simply because they worked in the past. They would rather have new stories that have never been told that have reused characters that have been center stage for decades.
