Genshin Impactredditors recently stumbled upon avideo that first appeared on Bilibili, a Chinese video-sharing website, in October last year. The video features a cleverElden Ringmod by user 战区仓鼠 in which Genshin Impact’s protagonist, the Traveler, fights Malenia, but with the appearance of Raiden Shogun, another sword-wielding character from the game.

The mod cleverly extrapolatesRaiden Shogun’s polearm with Malenia’s long blade. In addition, the creator ingeniously integrates Raiden Shogun’s emblematic battle theme, “Thunderings of the Merciless,” along with her weekly boss theme, “The Almighty Violet Thunder,” to create a spectacular feast for the eyes and ears.

It’s interesting to note that Raiden Shogun is also a two-phase boss character, just like Malenia, and the mod replaces Malenia’s second phase with Raiden Shogun’s Baleful Shadowlord Form, adding a surreal perspective on how the two characters–though far apart and different–are somewhat really similar.

The connections between Raiden Shogun and Malenia become even more intriguing when you consider (WARNING: SPOILER ALERT) that both are the offspring of a dual-nature being. Malenia’s parents, Queen Marika the Eternal and Radagon, are essentially one being cursed to be separated in the game’s lore.

Similarly, Raiden Shogun is a puppet of Ei, the current Electro Archon of Inazuma, but is also a representation of Ei herself in the mortal realm. Ei also has a twin sibling (Makoto) to whom she is deeply devoted, much like Malenia’s Miquella.

The modder 战区仓鼠 has a track record of creating impressive mods, as evidenced by his latest video, which features a modded fight againstMaguu Kenki from Genshin Impact Patch 1.6, as well as a faithful recreation of theboss fight against Starscourge Radahn, so fans have a lot to explore and enjoy in the user’s Bilibili backlog.

The video has also generated excitement between players for Genshin’s upcoming Fontaine region, which is said to be inspired by 1910’s France, and many of them are eagerly anticipating the possibility of a dungeon design reminiscent of the typical SoulsBorneRing network of sewers and catacombs, according tocomments on Reddit.

The release date for Fontaine in Genshin Impact is shrouded in mystery, but Mihoyo has a pattern of unveiling one new region per year. In July 2021, Inazuma made its debut, followed by Sumeru in August 2022. As a result, fans predict that Fontaine will arrive in either July or August of this year.
