How To Get Electrum

Electrum is a rare drop from Purple Golems, an elite variant of Golems. These Golems have purple medallions on their body instead of blue medallions like regular Golems. Currently, there is only one known location of a Purple Golem which can be found in thewestern section of the Volcanic Islands, in the ruins southeast of Windwalker’s home(where you get theMagick Archer Vocation). I’ve marked the location in the screenshot above.

To get to this Golem, you’ll first need to get to theVolcanic Islandsfrom Bakbattahl. There are two ways to do this, either progress the main story until you automaticallyunlock the Flamebearer Palace Spellseal Door, or take the southern route andgo throughDrabnir’s Grottoto reach the other side.

How To Defeat Purple Golems

Purple Golems work much the same way asregular Golemsin terms of how their weaknesses work but with a twist. You only need toaim at the glowing purple discs on their body until they drop off.Melee vocationswill need to do abit of climbingfor this but it is quite straightforward for ranged characters. Each time you destroy a medallion a Magick Medal will dropon the ground, be sure to pick these up before leaving.

At a certain point, all medallions on the Golem’s body will start glowing red.Destroying a medallion when it’s glowing red will freeze the Golem completelyfor a limited time. Use this opportunity to destroy as many medallions as possible because once the freeze duration is over, the Golem will enter an enraged state.

After you bring the Purple Golem’s health down to one bar, there will be no more medallions to target, at least on the surface. The last two weak points the Golem has are inside his arms, and they’re protected by a layer of rocks.

To target this weak point, you have towait for steam to start coming out of the Golem’s hidden weak points. Every time this happens, you’ll get a very small window of opportunity to deal damage to the Golem before it recovers from its vulnerable state and the weak points become untargetable again. Usinghigh burst damage attackslikeMystic Spearhand’s Wind Furieand Magick Archer’s Martyr Shot is the best way to take advantage of this opportunity and get the fight over quickly. If you don’t have a means of damaging the Golem in quick bursts, prepare for a slog of a fight ahead.
