InDragon QuestTreasures,Fortes are special abilitiesthat help players move around the world and locate treasure faster. There are six Fortes in total, but players will only have access to at most four at a time. All monsters come with one of five Fortes. The other Forte is exclusive to the playable characters Erik and Mia.

Nearly half of the Fortes exponentially improve gameplay and are must haves for improving exploration. Some of the other Fortes have very shallow abilities are shallow that leave very little impact on gameplay. This list will rank each one by how useful their abilities are.
Orcs, Hoodlums, Gigantes, and other monsters with astrong sense of smellcome with the Scan Forte. When used, it willhighlight nearby itemcollection points. This Forte is the least impactful to the overall gameplay since most items that the player can collect are placed in obvious locations that are easy to notice. The distance it can detect items is also very limited. Unless it’s behind a rock, chances are that this ability will only highlight items that are already in the camera’s view.

Even if there was an item behind a nearby rock, it would be equally fast to run around to check due toScan taking a little time to activate. SInce you can only bring three monsters with you during a treasure hunt, it is wise to only bring monsters with very helpful Fortes. Scan’slack of utilitymakes it a waste compared to many other Fortes in the game that help you explore the map. There is never an instance where Scan is required to progress through the world or main storyline.
Shadow, Shadow Minister, Muddy Hand, and similar monsters have this Forte which allows them tohide Erik and Mia’s presence within a dark void. This is great for sneaking past hard-to-defeat enemies. There’s also a select few locations where this skill is necessary to obtain secret chests. It alsoincreases movement speedslightly, but not as much as Sprint. These factors make Stealth more worth having than Scan, but it still has some flaws.

Stealth won’t guarantee you won’t be noticed – it just takes slightly longer for enemies to realize you’re nearby. Being stealthy also isn’t very necessary in a game where most enemies are slow. It’s veryeasy to run away from most foes, even without the Sprint Forte. Additionally, the amount of times Stealth is needed to find hidden chests and locations is seldom. It’s a verysituationally usefulForte.

Dracky, Hades Condor, Fiery Dragling, and other winged monsters have the Glide Forte. Killing Machines also have this Forte. When used on the ground, these monsters willraise Erik and Mia into the sky before gliding.Glide makesgetting over gaps, rivers, and other obstaclesmuch easier. When falling off cliffs, it can be activated shortly before hitting the ground toprevent fall damage.
The speed of Glide isn’t very fast, so the distance it can take you is a little limited, but it definitely makes traversing easier. It’s extra useful in areas that containgusts of wind.Monsters with this Forte can carry players long distances in windy paths. Many wind paths are shortcuts.

Bounce is the veryfirst Forteplayers get access to since the starting monster has it. It’s easy to obtain other monsters with this Forte since Slimes have it. Slimes are the most plentiful enemy type in many locations. Even the larger King Slime variations have Bounce. Some non-Slime monsters such as Golems also have this Forte.
Erik and Mia can jump, but theycan’t climb large walls. Monsters withbounce can help them reach surfacesthat otherwise can not be reached. It can also be used as aquick shortcutin some locations. These factors make Bounce a very helpful Fortes when it comes to traversing the world. Additionally, Bounce is the Forte with theshortest cooldown time. It only takes a second to recharge. This means having just one monster with it is enough to quickly scale cliff sides.

2Fortune Finder
Unlike the other Fortes in the game, Fortune Finder isnot used by monsters. Both playable characters have this ability, meaning it is always accessible. Fortune Finder acts as a compass thatpoints in the direction of treasure. It lacks a cooldown timer, so it can essentially be spammed. Collecting a lot of treasure is one of the game’s goals, so this Forte is helpful very often.

Buried treasureis much harder to find than the items that Scan highlights. It’s not impossible to find treasure without Fortune Finder, but it would take extremely long to find valuable possessions without it.
Every region in Dragon Quest Treasures is very large, yet both Erik and Mia have slightly slow movement speed. Sprintallows for vastly faster movementthat can aid in making exploration less time-consuming. If players run out of Chimera Wings, then Sprint is also the best option to effectively get back to the base. A drawback Sprint has is that it has avery long reload time. This can be counted by having two monsters with this Forte in your active party.
This would reduce the amount of other Fortes you have access to at a given time, but if you’re only focused on running around to find treasure, then most other Fortes aren’t necessary. Sprint also has a lot of advantages other Fortes have.Sprint can get you past enemies faster than Stealth can. If activated before falling, it cannegate all fall damage. That makes it even more effective at helping you reach the bottom of large cliffs than Glide is. Sprint is used by a few different monsters; Sham Hatwitch, the iconic Great Sabrecat, and their various counterparts.
