Dragon Ball DAIMAfinally gave Vegeta the spotlight but not in the way I had hoped. There is no doubt that Goku is the protagonist of the series and should then be given the most focus. However, if they intend to hold back Vegeta’s involvement in the story so much, why show him in the first place? The anime has its own fair share of inside jokes that I am quite fond of, including the use of Goku’s recognizable hair and the constant abduction of their vehicles.

The anime doesn’t live in an unaware world; it is mostly aware of its surroundings and does not act on a whim. This is evident in how everyone was actually able to recognize Goku because of his hair and not turning a blind eye to it. Some parts of the episode were done exceptionally well while others, not so much.
Dragon Ball DAIMA’s Animation is Stronger than Its Plot
Every single episode ofDragon Ball DAIMAcomes with new information about some of the other species of the series. This episode in particular featured the Saibaiman. Panzy’s role feels too much like that of Bulma, making her a clear replacement for a character who has been doing nothing but yearning for her chance to explore the crisis at hand where the situation is in her favor.
Now that the Dragon Ball has been acquired, it is only fair that there would be others who want their hands on it. Luckily, the anime didn’t forget that either. From locals and Arinsu to King Gomah himself, everyone has a whiff of the situation, and no doubt everyone seeks power. The world looks so beautiful, Toei Animation went out of its way to make the Demon Realm as splendid as it looks. Moreover, the fight sequences are increasingly beautiful, one in particular stealing the show.

Dragon Ball DAIMA Has Already Moved Past Goku’s Super Saiyan Transformation
Vegeta, Piccolo, Bulma, and Hybis are finally set to reunite with the group but in its best comedic fashion, their ship gets stolen. It is almost mocking Goku’s journey and how Vegeta is forced to take the path even if there are other ways available. Despite that, one particular scene stands out for me and perhaps many other fans who watched the episode; Vegeta’s bar fight.
Goku has His Own Priorities
The latest episode of the anime featured a fight scene that might have been my favorite so far. Vegeta goes into a bar with everyone, which makes me wonder how better of a companion Hybis is as compared to Glorio and Panzy because of the many ways he has to deal with boredom. The neons helped bring out Vegeta in the most captivating way while also showcasing that he isn’t one to back down from a fight, even if he doesn’t need to lift a finger to beat them.
It was a scene that was too short in my opinion, yet worked splendidly to remind fans that just because he has taken a backseat in the anime doesn’t mean he has lost his abilities. As they all finally reunite, things go against them with Goku picking rations over Vegeta. Once again this leaves them waiting, unable to do anything but.

Dragon Ball DAIMA: Majin Buu’s Backstory Change Explained
Goku’s rush to defeat the other Tamagami leaves Vegeta to deal with the actual problem of the anime, King Gomah, and Degesu. This would give a proper division to the two alternating stories without causing too much chaos. In the midst of it all, another contender rises, Majin Kuu. Now this, unfortunately, fell flat for me. The design was rough, to say the least. I do believe that he would get other forms, but for now, that’s a no from me.
The fact that he was introduced so soon and that his target is the first Tamagami gives me the impression that his fight against Goku and/or Vegeta would be more integral to the upcoming episodes than towards the finale of the season. That, or his future transformation would make him a foe unlike any.

Rating: 8/10
