Some diehardDiablo 4players are convinced that there is a Secret Cow Level in the game. They have a Discord server titled ‘D4 Not Finding A Cow Level’ dedicated to finding it, and are already gathering a lot of evidence to support the claim that this level somehow exists.
The Secret Cow Level is a quirky secret level-up area found in all Diablo games (except Diablo 4, for now), and it contains a number of two-legged, weapon-wielding cows called “Hell Bovines”, in addition to their boss, “The Cow King”.
Finding this level usually involves a series of specific steps that vary from game to game, such as finding a unique item calledWirt’s LeginDiablo 2and combining it with theTome of Town Portalto open the portal to the cow dimension.

Reddit useru/Altnobbelieves that the Diablo 4 in-game data-mined item Bloody Wooden Shard is actually the Wirt’s Leg, as its flavor text says that it has the letter W crudely carved on one side. Furthermore, They also believe that the data-mined item Musty Tome is Diablo 4’s equivalent of the Tome of Town Portal, the second item required to open a path to the secret cow level, which is alternatively called the Moo Moo Farm.
The fact that these two items are tied to what appears to be a secret cellar quest – according to the datamined information – gives further reason to believe that these two items are a key to unlocking the in-game cow area. Many other players are currently coming up with their own findings and theories as well. For example, veteran playerKarstSkarnsays there’s an area called The Scar in Scosglen that is shaped like a cow’s head, not to mention how it looks similar to the areas in Diablo 2’s first act where you can open the Red Cow Portal.
Other players are having more fun killing all the cows “just in case” instead of actually looking for clues, as the replies onThe_Russmanmake the ideabloodyobvious. The thing is, there are supposed to be no secret levels in Diablo, cows or no cows, as Diablo General Manager Rod Fergusson made very clear in a previousKinda Funnyepisode (at 36:10 timestamp), but Diablo fans still believe that there’s a level, or at least a hint of a level, hidden somewhere in the world of Sanctuary. And we are also excited to see where the trip will moo them.
