But, there’s a kicker when it comes to these Malignant Tunnels. The final boss isn’t simply waiting for players in an underground arena. No, they must be summoned using the power of a Malignant Invoker, which the player must acquire beforehand.

How To Acquire Malignant Invokers

First and foremost, what are Malignant Invokers? These newly added and unique items, exclusive to Season of the Malignant, areconsumables that unlock a final boss in the Malignant Tunnelsscattered about the world of Sanctuary. Players can tell which dungeons are Malignant Tunnels by examining the map. The afflicted dungeons will feature agreen leaf iconon the world map, indicating their Malignant status.

With an Invoker available in the inventory, of which there are four types—Brutal, Devious, Vicious, andWrathful—players must complete the dungeon as per usual, thenuse one of the Invokers, which are sort of like a nefarious key, to summon the final boss. But, there’s a catch, as this is the first season of Diablo 4! Instead of regular enemies scattered throughout the dungeon, players will face Malignant foes consumed by an illness spread via Lilith’s influence. Some of these enemies, like named bosses, can spawn twice. The first time you fight them, they will drop a Malignant Heart, which players must activate to invoke the second summoning. This second battle isn’t overly complicated, but the reward is typically aMalignant Heart used for crafting and seasonal purposes.

That’s where Malignant Invokers enter the picture. Once the player meetsCormond, crafting various Invokers using resources gathered via Malignant Tunnels and Bosses becomes possible. Occasionally, mobs afflicted with the Malignant status will drop Invokers. For most, it’s best to craft.
