We’ve knownsince Julythat Compile Heart’sDeath end re;Questfor PS4 was coming West, but today we learned exactly when it releasing. During a press event, publisher Idea Factory revealed thatDeath end re;Questwill be releasing on February 19 in North America and February 22 in Europe.
Death end re;Questhas a fairly novel premise, following video game programmer Arata Mizunashi as he attempts to save his former co-worker, Shina Ninomiya, who is trapped in a game they created together called World’s Odyssey. Shina must beat the game in order to escape, but starts to find some chilling similarities to the real world as time goes on. This premise allows the game to play around with genre cliches.
Death end re;Quest’sfights within the fictional game can even turn into a first-person shooter or fighting game ordeals depending on what the player chooses. There will also be several endings to encourage multiple playthroughs. This latest trailer, which also reveals the release date, highlights the Triact System, Field Bugs, Glitch Mode, and the Knockback System; meanwhile, new screenshots focus on battle UI.
The February release date putsDeath end re;Questright in the middle of what is currently one of 2019’s busiest months. In Europe, it’s even launching the same day asMetro: ExodusandAnthem. Fortunately, this game’s target audience is fairly niche and separate from those titles, so it shouldn’t be much of an issue. As for other Japanese games coming that month, western players can look forward toJump Force,Dead or Alive 6,andGod Eater 3while Japanese players can add Wizard’s Symphony, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy, andShinsou Noiseto that list.
