Ina recent interviewwithNintendo Force, Maja, Chad, and Jared Moldenhauer – the heads of Studio MDHR and developers ofCuphead– discuss the possibility of making a newThe Legend of Zeldatitle and how that would be a dream for them.
Jared in particular has bigger plans for such a crossover beyond simply putting the two of them together. He delves further in the interview:
…a sprawlingZeldatitle brought to life in a doting 2D hand-animated style…Think of all the expressiveness and life you could bring to the tribes, people, and enemies of a universe that rich!
And much likeCuphead, we would get to test our design mettle coming up with screen-filling bosses of an entirely different nature. Of course, backgrounds would be completely hand-painted with nothing re-used! The list just goes on and on. It would be an absolute dream come true.
While this may seem like a unrealistic pipe-dream,Cadence of Hyrulewas created by indie developers as well and, judging from our ownDualShockers review, is quite the good game. And seeing the styles ofCupheadandLegend of Zeldamerge together in a wholly unique product would honestly be my dream come true as well.
Check out why we thinkCupheadisperfect for Nintendo Switch, as the game’s port over to the system is what sparked this interview topic in the first place. You can also readour reviewof the game and find out for yourself why it’s deserving of all the praise it’s received since its initial launch.
This isn’t the first time theCupheaddevs expressed interest in a Nintendo IP, as Jared stated that he would love to seehis characters addedtoSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate. The game also made headlines when it was announced to be releasedfor Tesla vehiclesof all things, with a release date for sometime this summer.
