Denis Villeneuverecently gave an interview withTime Magazinefor the promotion of his upcoming film,Dune: Part Two, which is releasing on the 1st of March 2014. He went into great detail about what can be expected from the film, as well as what will follow this highly anticipated sequel. The first film, released in 2021, turned into a cultural phenomenon, much like the source material. So much so, that it was adored by its audiences and made a total of $400 million on a budget of $165 million.
“Dune Messiah should be the last Dune movie for me,”Villeneuve confirms.
It can also be expected that the second part of this film will also lead to similar results, with fans being almost as, if not more excited than their first time around with the franchise. Villeneuve stated that if the success ofDune 2allows a third film to go into production, it will be his last film in the franchise. The filmmaker seems to not be all too interested in being a part of the rest of the films that may follow.
