TwoDungeons & Dragonsgames from yesteryear are making a return to Steam in remastered form, as SNEG is restoring Dungeons & Dragons: Dragonshard and Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone to the popular digital storefront.
Following the smash success ofBaldur’s Gate 3, there has been an interest in bringing back old D&D games, especially the ones that mimicked the tabletop RPG, rather than just using the setting. The most recent of thesewas Neverwinter Nights 2, which featured all of the modules for that classic D&D 3rd edition adventure.
D&D Releases New & Revised Forgotten Realms Subclasses
Wizards of the Coast has revealed new D&D subclasses based on the Forgotten Realms campaign setting.
The D&D train is still going, as SNEG has announced (viaGematsu) that it’s bringingback two D&D gamesin August, though with no day nailed down. The first is an RTS set in a more technologically advanced world, while the second is an action RPG in a familiar setting.
D&D Dragonshard And Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone Are Returning
Dungeons & Dragons: Dragonshard is an RTS set in the world of Eberron, where magic and machinery often work together. The game balances massive battles on the open fields with dungeon exploration, requiring the player to level up their troops to prepare them for the battles to come.
Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone uses the same setting as Baldur’s Gate 3, with a story penned by famed Dungeons & Dragons novelist R.A. Salvatore and voice work provided by Patrick Stewart and Michael Clarke Duncan. Demon Stoneis an action RPGthat is all about combat and spells in real-time, with players cutting through hordes of monsters.
It’s awesome to see these old D&D games brought back and with tweaks to make them run on modern systems, including better performance and resolution. People are hungry for more D&D content, and will soon be able to go back to the past and play someunderrated gems from the 2000s.
