Clair Obscur: Expedition 33: How to Beat Chromatic Demineur

Here is how you can beat the Chromatic Demineur in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

This enemy is none other than the Chromatic Benisseur. It has a samurai-esque design and attacks you with a glaive-like spear. This powered enemy won’t hesitate even for a moment and will come at you with everything it has got.

Chromatic Benisseur Fight Preparations

So, to help you win this fight, here is a complete boss guide on how you may beat the Chromatic Benisseur, where to find it, its moves, and more.

Where To Find The Chromatic Benisseur?

you may find Chromatic Benisseur by heading east from The Meadows.Like many other Chromatic bosses, this one too isn’t available immediately, and you first need to unlock Esquie’s flying ability to get here.

Depending on where you are on the map, begin by going to the starting areas of the game, like The Meadows or Esquie’s Nest. Next, fly east towards the character pin shown in the above image.

Best Party Members To Fight Chromatic Benisseur

The area is easy to spot as there are orange, green, and yellow trees in the barren land where this boss roams. You can also find the merchant Lucaroparfe here, who sells you the Pure Outfit and Haircut for Monoco for 10000 and 2000 Chroma, respectively.

You can land here and attack the Chromatic Benisseur, or fly right into it to start the fight.

How To Prepare For The Chromatic Benisseur Fight

The Chromatic Benisseur is weak against Dark and Ice damage. So, the best members for this fight are Sciel and Monoco.

Lune can also be pretty useful in this fight, as she has some useful skills that can deal ice damage, while also being able to fulfill the role of a support. However, if you have decently leveled Ice weapons for Maelle or Verso and are good with your parry game, then having them on the team is better.

This fight can get over in a flash if you aren’t careful, so these are the moves that Chromatic Benisseur will use in this fight, and the best party members and their skills that you should use to counter them.

Best Party Members

For this fight,my team consisted of Sciel, Verso, and Monoco at levels 63, 69, and 67, respectively. Ideally, you should choose characters who can deal a lot of damage when they counterattack.

Let us start withSciel. The skills that you should equip for this fight are Final Path, Dark Wave, Phantom Blade, and Marking Card. All of the above skills deal Dark damage. To make the most of them, you should use weapons likeChation,Lusteson, orRangeson.

The earliest you can obtain Chation is by defeating the Greatsword Cultist and Reaper Cultist tag team at Stone Wave Cliffs.

ForVerso, I used a level 15Cruleram, but you could also use aGlaceso. As for his skills, you should go with Storm Strike, Assault Zero, From Fire, and Perfect Recovery.

Chromatic Benisseur Attack Breakdown

In terms of enemy attacks, Chromatic Benisseur has only two moves. The good news is he only uses one of those moves once at the start of the fight. So, you just have to worry aboutlearning the parry timingof the other attack, and you are all set for this fight.

Protective Bubble Barrage

Chromatic Benisseur summons a bunch of bubbles, then launches 6 of them randomly at the party members. These bubbles do anywhere between 3000-7000 damage and are capable of eliminating your team within a hit or two.

Dodge or Parry

4-Hit Spear Combo

This is Chromatic Benisseur’s signature move; it pulls out a spear after the bubble attack. It swings the spear from its right hand at the target, then does a rapid backspin attack. Next, it does another forward swing and ends the combo with an overhead attack.

How To Beat The Chromatic Benisseur

To beat the Chromatic Benisseur, you must get familiar with its Spear combo and parry it every chance you get. During your turns, attack it with any Ice or Dark skills that you have to deal the most damage.

Start the fight by sending in a decoy team of Lune and Maelle. Yes, this isn’t the team I mentioned above, but that is exactly why you must send them. Think of them as sacrificialPokémonthat you send out to heal your main Pokémon, but instead, their purpose is to waste the enemy’s Protective Bubble attack.

This move is very hard to dodge and even harder to parry. As such, most players can sacrifice the party members they don’t plan on using. In case they do survive the Bubble attack, that is an even better outcome, asyou get to practice the 4-hit Spear Combo on them.

Once you are good with your counterattacks, you could either continue with this team if you have the right skills and weapons equipped. Or let them die so that you cansend in your reserve team, which happens to be of the party members you originally decided on.

This boss does have quite a lot of HP, so the fight can take a while.Be patient and parry the spear attacks to hit the Chromatic Benisseur with counterattacks and use your skills until it dies.

Chromatic Benisseur Rewards

After you defeat the Chromatic Benisseur, you will get these rewards:

If you haven’t defeated a Benisseur enemy before, having Monoco in your party and beating this boss unlocks theBenisseur Mortarskill for him.

Benisim is a weapon for Lune that does Earth damage. It has S scaling with Vitality, A with Defense, and 2744 power at level 33. you’re able to obtain this weapon early at Forgotten Battlefield by purchasing it from the Gestral NPC Kasumi for 7990 Chroma.

At level 4, you can use healing skills with 1 less AP. At level 10, you will generate an Earth Stain at the start of each turn. Finally, at level 20, you get to replay another turn when you use Healing skills that use Stains.

Ideally, this weapon works better when you are playing Lune as support. If you want something that is more attack-focused, then you should go forElerim. It has the highest power at level 33 compared to all of Lune’s other weapons.
