Paradox InteractiveandColossal Orderhave announced that the city builder sequelCities: Skylines2 will be released for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC later this year. The companies have not given a firm release date yet.
Announced during the Paradox Announcement Show 2023, Cities: Skylines 2 is being developed by Colossal Order, the same studio behind its predecessor. The sequel will expand and improve upon city building mechanics, as it will also feature fully-realized economy and transport systems, new customization options, and advanced modding capabilities compared to the original Cities: Skylines. Colossal Order said the sequel offers a deeper simulation and a living economy, which require players to challenge their management skills.

The development team assured players that Cities: Skylines 2 will feature more realism than any other game in the genre; a game in which cities will evolve and react to player decisions. Each player must improve their creativity and strategic planning skills to build their metropolis. Cities: Skylines 2 will be more challenging and rewarding while maintaining the beloved aspects of the first game, such as a wide array of construction options and a detailed economy and transportation system.

If you are unfamiliar with the franchise, Cities: Skylines was first released for PC all the way back in 2015, followed by releases on Xbox One and PS4 in 2017. It has grown in popularity as a replacement forSimCity, which is widely viewed as the best city-building game ever created.
