The news about a potentialCall of Dutyfilm first surfaced in 2015 when Activision Blizzard launched a production studio called Activision Blizzard Studios. Many sources confirmed at the time that the motion picture production company was working on a live-action movie based on theCall of Dutyvideo game franchise. However, the production was shut down in 2020 as the movie was not the studios’ priority.
It’s been four years since the last announcement but many fans on social media are positive that Activision Blizzard will soon announce the movie. Last year, there were many debates over the film’s cast and a petition was filed that demanded that the film features actors from the game itself. The petition faced criticism as there have been rumors about Henry Cavill and Jensen Ackles joining the project.

Apetitionwas made in March 2023 asking Activision Blizzard to hire the actors from the game for the rumored live-actionCall of Dutymovie. The petition specifically mentioned that fans want Barry Sloane, Neil Ellice, Samuel Roukin, Elliot Knight, Claudia Doumit, Warren Kole, Rya Kihlstedt, and Alain Mesa to play their roles in the movie.

Unfortunately, this petition has only 1,133 signatures as of March 2024, so it is safe to say that it never reached Activision Blizzard. Indeed, it would be nice to see these actors play their roles but bringing in some popular Hollywood stars would certainly help the studios in filling up the theatres.
Henry Cavill and Jensen Ackles might join the project
In 2015,The Hollywood Reporterrevealed that Activision Blizzard is planning to release a live-action movie based on theCall of Dutyvideo game franchise in association with Activision Blizzard Studios. Eventually, Stefano Sollima was hired to direct the film and Sollima revealed that he would like to have actors Tom Hardy and Chris Pine as the leads for the film. Unfortunately, in a 2020 interview withBadTaste, Sollima said Activision Blizzard decided to put the movie on a back burner because it was not their priority.

Activision Blizzard has remained silent over the past four years but fans are sure that an announcement is coming their way very soon. As for the petition, fans need to let go of that idea asCall of Dutyis known for prioritizing profits over its content, so they will definitely hire some heavy-hitters for their movie.
