The main issues started with one of the recent Xbox Game Pass updates. OnJuly 2024,COD: Modern Warfare 3was added to the library, which led to Microsoft Store PC users being mistakenly tagged as Xbox users.
This allowed them to circumvent the standard RICOCHET protection and the use of prohibited software. Each player coming from the Microsoft Store was tagged as an Xbox player within the COD multiplayer lobby.

The good news is that the RICOCHET Anti-Cheat team was quick to act. It took these experts less than two weeks to completely patch the issue, making it easier for the system to differentiate between PC and Xbox players.
As a result,approximately65,000 playerswere banned from ranked and non-ranked games. Their team vows to maintain the same standard of excellence, providing all players with a fair gaming experience.
While all of this sounds fantastic, many players had mixed reactions. Gamers are worried the same cheating trend will persist despite Sledgehammer Games' efforts.
