Prior to launch, many expected thatBorderlands 3would end up being one of 2019’s best-selling games come the end of the year. Based on data we’ve now seen so far, it seems like that could prove to be true.
Borderlands 3was the top-selling game last week in the UK, topping the region’s weekly video game sales chart. However, the loot shooter didn’t just beat out its competition for this week, though. AsGamesIndustry.bizreports,Borderlands 3is the biggest physical launch of the year beating out the previous winner which wasDays Gone.
Despite this feat though, the game’s sales were less than half of that compared to the physical sales ofBorderlands 2at launch. However, this is most likely attributed mainly to the rise in digital game sales more than anything else. All in all, it’s a strong launch for 2K Games and Gearbox Software.
As for the rest of the list, Microsoft’sGears 5ended up debuting in second place this week while Konami’seFootball PES 2020came in at third. Last week’s chart-topper inNBA 2K20then came in at fourth whileGreedfalldebuted on the list at fifth. Other mentionable debuts on the UK chart this week includeDaemon x Machinaat 19th overall whileNHL 20barely cracked the top-40 landing at 36th.
you’re able to find the full top-40 list from last week down below. Stay tuned for our official review ofBorderlands 3which should be dropping later this week.
