They say farming is honest work, but if you’re grinding away at a game that has specifically tailored each encounter to give you enough levels to progress naturally, is it still honest? Probably–especially when you’re the impatient sort who wants to accumulate power as fast as you can inBlack Myth: Wukong.

While others are spending their time incessantly banging their heads intothat one tough boss, you’re spending it better by killing dozens of mobs for their drops.

Black Myth Wukong All Chapters Ranked

Most of these farming spots are already pretty well documented by the community. I have to credit creators likeRPGSamuraiandSolestro, as their videos helped me figure out the most optimal builds and strategies for farming.

This originally started off as a list, but since there are only a handful of viable farming options, I’m writing this as a guide instead.

The amount of income that you earn in these farming methods is an estimate from the above creators. The screenshots I have taken are from a New Game+ playthrough, so they do not accurately reflect what you earn on your first playthrough.

While all are great, not all of Black Myth Wukong’s Chapters are created equal.

Farming Overview

Because enemies respawn whenever you rest at a Keeper’s Shrine, the best farming spots are usually ones that are situated as close to a group of enemies as possible.

When players talk about farming, these are the resources they’re mostly farming for:

When you’re farming, your goal is to be as efficient as possible; hit hard and move fast. Eventually, the routes will become muscle memory, and you’re able to do these while listening to a podcast or an audiobook.

Since you want to expedite each run, verify to equip theIncense Trail Talismanin your shortcuts for whenever you finish. You wouldn’t want to be backtracking every single time.

Keep in mind farming isn’t an absolute must for any playthrough–this is only something you do if you want to level up fast. It does help you gain a few levels if you’re stuck at a boss or want the money to buy an upgrade.

Early-Game XP And Will Farming

Snake Trail

Our first farming spot is near the very beginning of the game, in Chapter 1. To access this spot, all you need is to progress the story until you reach the Snake Trail, which is right before you meetGuangmou.

Don’t worry too much about gear to optimize your runs, as this is only a good farming spot if you’ve only just started the game and are eager to grind a few levels.

The starter Pilgrim armor set is great for being quick on your feet. For reference, here’s each piece:

Step-by-step process:

It’s okay to ignore the Skeletal Snakes because they don’t drop as much and don’t drop Mind Cores at all.

Each run should net you the following:

175 XP 190 Will

Time Per Run

Gains Per Run

700 XP 760 Will

Mind Cores Per 30 Minutes

This is a bit of a tedious method, but it gets the job done if you’re looking for some extra XP and Will while you’re still low-level.I would recommend moving on from this route after you beat Chapter 1.

Rockrest Flat

This is another early-game farming spot, and it’s in Chapter 2. At this point, you should be a little stronger and have more options to optimize your run.

It’s a much better spot because the three enemies you need to kill are almost right next to each other.

To optimize your gains, you’ll need theGoldflora HairpinCurio, which increases Will gained from defeating enemies. you may get it by completingthe Man-In-Stone quest.TheWandering WightSpirit is also suggested for quick and hard-hitting attacks.ImmobilizeandCloud Stepare also recommended.

The method is simple:

Stone Guai Spear Bone

127 XP, 157 Will 275 XP, 376 Will

35-40 seconds

677 XP 906 Will

Mind Cores Per 30 Mins

As this is an early game spot, it doesn’t give you a lot, but it at least cuts down farming time by half.

Black Myth Wukong: Best Transformations Ranked

Ranking the best transformations in the Destined One’s arsenal.

Easiest Mind Core Farming Route

Optimized Build

Wandering Wight,Cloud Step

Skull of Turtle Treasure,Pilgrim’s Garb,Pilgrim’s Wristwraps,Ebongold Gaiters

Golden Carp,Auspicious Lantern,Wind Chime

Bluebridge Romance

Breath of Fire,Tiger Relic,Double-Combed Rooster Blood

Mind Core farming is mind-numbingly (pun intended) quick and easy, so you’ll need to really optimize your build to avoid any hiccups.

For this spot, all you need is to kill one enemy: a single tiger guai near the Shrine. While you still get XP and Will, you’re solely focused on maximizing yourMind Coregains.

You won’t miss this spot, as it’s part of the main storyline. The Court of Illumination is an area right before you fight theHundred-eyed Daoist Master.

With the available Sparks, focus all skill points on any offensive capabilities, including crit rate and attack. The point of this method is to be as quick as possible before resetting your run.

Watch out for the spear-wielding Daoists nearby, as they could potentially interrupt your run.

JRPG Samurai found the following results for running this farming method:

Mind Cores per 30 mins

Time per run

23 seconds

Gains per run

569 XP 640 Will

There are many more Mind Core farming methods, but I found that this one is by far the fastest and easiest to execute. If you’re looking for other Mind Core routes, below are a couple of other locations and the enemies you’ll farm.

Other Mind Core Farming Routes

There’s beensome talk in the community that Mind Core drop rates decreaseafter you kill the same enemy a certain number of times. I haven’t noticed this effect, but just to be safe, I’ve found other Mind Core farming routes to take in case you get bored or if the drop rates go down.

New Thunderclap Temple

You’ll be farming the blind monks that populate the Thunderclap Temple. Follow the path indicated in the gallery above. These monks can throw hands, so your best bet is to practice recognizing their attacks and rely on your spells. Reset after killing the fourth monk in the second temple.

Valley Entrance

This is a relatively easy one, but requires you to sprint quite a bit. As indicated in the images above, you’ll be farming the shield-bearing enemy.

Your best strategy is to Immobilize and get behind him, and dump a big chunk of burst damage on him (like theWandering Wight). Reset when he’s dead.

I would recommend switching spots after farming for 30 minutes.

Late-Game to End-game: Pool of Shattered Jade

Transformations

Lantern Holder;Ashen Slumber

Folk Opera Mask,Folk Opera Almsgiving Armor,Folk Opera Leather Bracers,Folk Opera Buskins

Goldflora Hairpin,Celestial Registry Tablet

This is THE definitive farming spot, as it yields the highest amount of XP points and Will while requiring the least amount of effort. You can easily find this spot once you reach Chapter 4, and farming it will net you at least 2000 Will and around one level per two runs.

It’s possible that you might miss the Pool of Shattered Jade shrine while running through the arachnid-infested caverns, so here’s a step-by-step guide on how to find it, starting at the Upper Hollow shrine. Follow the images in this gallery for reference.

Once you’re there, you’ll need to equip any or all of the items in the table above to maximize your runs.

The Folk Opera armor set is a Delux Edition exclusive and only gives you a 10% increase in Will gained, so it’s not an absolute must. It wouldn’t hurt to equip it if you DO have it.

While not required, the Spirit and the Curios listed will give you the most bang for your buck, increasing your Will, XP, and materials from defeating enemies.

What is most important, however, is theAshen SlumberTransformation, because its Detransformation ability, Fiery Burst, deals massive damage with a large AOE in a kamikaze explosion. This lets you kill most if not all the cocoons with one attack. You can get it in Chapter 3.

Hoarfrostworks too as it deals just as much damage with its Ice Sheet attack, butdue to it being harder to findand its AOE being smaller, I would advise against it.

Now that you have everything you need, you can start farming. All you need to do is go through that tunnel full of cocoons, transform with Ashen Slumber, blow yourself up, and watch the cocoons shower you with silk, XP, and Will.

The following are the results and calculations, courtesy of JRPG Samurai:

Per cocoon

30 seconds

2625 XP 3000+ Will

Gains per hour

315k XP 360k Will

My best advice is to situate yourself right in the middle of all the cocoons. You’ll be able to find the sweet spot after a few tries, but once you do, you’ll be farmmaxxing your way to godhood.
