Baldur’s Gate 3players will likely remember Arabella, the tiefling child held captive by the druid Kagha as the party arrives in the Emerald Grove. The power-hungry druid is holding Arabella captive because she stole the Idol of Silvanus, an artifact the druids need to perform their ritual. As with anything in Baldur’s Gate 3, there are a couple of ways to resolve this quest.

The simplest solution is to convince Kagha to release Arabella through a nature or persuasion check. There is a longer route involving an investigation of Kagha, culminating in the party exposing her association with the Shadow Druids. Either way, saving Arabella will overjoy her parents, and they’ll reward the player with Komira’s Locket. This unique amulet allows you to cast the cantrip Dancing Lights, a spell that creates three wisps of light.

Baldurs Gate 3 Arabella 2

The next time you encounter Arabella after leaving the Grove is in Act 2, near the entrance to the cemetery. She’s been separated from her parents. You can have her agree to wait at your camp by agreeing to find her mother and father. Unfortunately, the tiefling couple fell victim to Malus Thorm’s sadistic experiments in the House of Healing.

This is whereReddit user Rose249made a heartbreaking connection. As Komira’s Locket allows the wearer to cast Dancing Lights, the player theorises they may have been able to navigate the darkness of the Shadowlands if they had the locket. This theory is further supported by the fact that should Arabella die at the hands of Kagha in Act 1, her parents can actually be found alive and well at the Last Light Inn during Act 2.

Unfortunately, it is impossible for both Arabella and her family to survive the events of Baldur’s Gate 3. Should Arabella survive, Withers explains to the young tiefling in camp that she is weave-touched, and her parents dying was fated and necessary. Arabella can then be found exploring her arcane talents in the sewers during the third and final act.

While many players wish they could refuse Komira’s reward, this can’t be done. The give-and-take of Baldur’s Gate 3 is inescapable.
