The Nintendo Switch is no stranger to video game ports. The ability to take AAA titles with you wherever you go has made the allure of porting old favorites incredibly tempting to consumers. It appears that Atlus may now be toying with the idea of bringing over their long-runningShin Megami Tensei, and spin-offs, to Nintendo’s money maker.
In their yearly surveyto consumers, Atlus' final question has piqued the interest of many fans. Specifically, it asks that if their previous games were ported to the Switch, with no additional new elements, would you want to play them? The options include a long list of many of the companies most memorable titles.
This is far from a confirmation that these games are all going to come to Switch. However, it is a solid estimation of what games that Atlus thinks they should port over. Games such asPersona 4 GoldenandPersona 5have been begged for on Switch for as long as the system has been out. And many others have already had successful lives on older handhelds that could easily find an arguably more successful life over on the Switch. Other studios have already proven that you may make the jump from two-screen to one, making many of the amazing DS and 3DS titles just as viable as the rest.
It is a bit disappointing about the lack of inclusion of the originalMegami Tensei, andShin Megami Tenseititles that came prior to the PlayStation. While they may be a bit rough for today’s standards, the idea of having a collection that showcases the franchises' origins would be beautiful. I am grateful though that they are looking at the first twoPersonatitles though; they are games which I feel often get left out of discussions surrounding thePersonaseries.
The Switch will be receiving somePersonaregardless with the soon-to-be releasedPersona 5 Scrambleover in Japan. You can snag the demo now over on the Japanese eShop and check out ourrecent articleshowcasing the newest Phantom Thief, Wolf. In the meantime, I’m going to continue throwing my money at my computer screen, in the hopes that it will somehow help Atlus release the ports faster.
