Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Landhas been an enriching experience. Coming fromGenshin Impact,Wuthering Waves, andHonkai Star Rail, I was used to games with vibrant characters and interesting stories, andAtelier Yumiadid a good job.
I tried a new combat system, went through fresh JRPG elements, and explored unknown regions without knowing what I’d encountered.

If you’re brand new to the JRPG genre and tryingAtelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Landfor the first time,I bet these beginner tips will significantly help you.
10Don’t Rely On Button Mashing
It Works Until It Doesn’t
I wasn’t expecting multiple skills on characters. However, I was surprised thatcharacters have different skills depending on their fighting range.
Inner range, Outer range, Mana surge, whichever position you’re in, your character’s skills will change. The changes might not be drastic. However, there will be variations.

You can randomly press buttons to defeat enemies; however, it only works in Easy mode or against weaker enemies.Boss encounters require you to dodge attacksthat can one-shot your entire party or on-field character.
I was randomly pressing skill buttons while fighting against mobs, but after losing multiple fights against the first boss, I knew I had to learn mechanics. So, I suggestpracticing evading enemy attacks to progressthrough fights.

9Use The Map Tracker
Exploration Made Easy
If you’re exploring the open world, there’s no way you can avoid fighting unique monsters. Sometimes, you’ll come across Quest encounters that’ll require you to fight waves of monsters.
That’s just a part of the game. Combat and exploration go hand in hand. However, the exploration is more straightforward than other open-world games I’ve played. I no longer have to open a map on the side to look for hidden objectives or chests.

All I need to do is toopen the map, track a question mark symbol, and find what’s there. Still, I don’t know what it could be, but I’m not complaining. There should be an element of surprise. It could be a monster hotspot, a Shrine of Prayer, or a Treasure Trove.
That said, I highly suggest gunning for the question mark symbols on the map to investigate unknown areas.

8Change Your Party Setup For Each Boss
Different Challenges Require Different Approaches
It’s impressive to see such customization in the game where you can fine-tune characters' AI. I can change Tactics depending on the type of boss I’m about to fight.
Not only that, but the ease with which I canset the limit to trigger certain items is also fantastic. As you progress, more characters will join your Research party, and you canchange their range, evasion, support item, and restorative item priorities.
All characters have different skills for the Inner and Outer range, and depending on the type of team composition you’re aiming for, you can change characters' fighting styles.
As for the Battle settings, I highly recommend checking outnew equipment and weapons that you can put on characters. See what increases their stats and switch to those items.
Hover over the items, and you’ll see the change in stats. Equip the best equipment and weapon for your character.
7The Synthesis Mechanic Has Different Settings
Scary At First, But Rather Easy
I won’t lie and say that I’ve seenmany combat or in-game mechanics. There areloads of games out therewith unique systems, and one of them is the Synthesis mechanic that we see inAtelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land.
It was scary for me at first because I’m not used to nitty-gritty customization. Sure, I love tocustomize characters, skills, items, and weapons, but I wasn’t expecting a mechanic that deep. However, the game provides new players with quite an easy workaround.
Atelier Yumia Takes Inspiration From Genshin, Persona, & Valheim
Imitation is the highest form of flattery
You canchoose from multiple options to synthesize an item.Quality, effect, bare minimum, or customizationof the entire thing depends on you. I recommendusing the Bare minimum option for quests to satisfy the quest requirements.
And if you plan to take on bosses, you can choose between Quality or Effect.
Before finalizing the synthesis, you can check the details and stats of each option. Compare what suits you better, Quality or Effect, and choose the best.
6Rely On Savescumming
Good For Experimentation
If you’re new to the game and its mechanics, you need to experiment a bit to grasp certain effects weapons and items have. And to make a crystal clear comparison, sometimes you have to go all in to craft them with rare materials.
However,if you don’t have a checkpoint to come back to, you’re screwed. But that’s not the case withAtelier Yumia. If you’re in the end-game and want to test high-tier weapons and synthesize them with everything you’ve got, you can always make a new save file and restart from there.
I’ve got two saved files. The first was the build that helped me clear the last boss; the second was where I experimented with new builds.
This feature is good for experimentation, and if you’re into building unique combinations of equipment and items, I highly recommend making multiple save files. Just remember to know which ones are which.
5Hoarding Pays Off
Save Rare Materials
Needless to say, this tip goes in tandem with the previous one. I don’t recommend synthesizing the best items from the get-go. You need to pour particles into items to enhance them, andthe more enhanced an item is, the more effective it’ll be in the battle.
That’s why hoarding materials is the way. Once you start fighting the bosses, you can synthesize high-tier items and use the best materials to craft them. It is crucial tocheck the effects of the items before you enhance or synthesize them.
I prefer self-sustain builds where characters can heal themselves with attacks, so I synthesize items that give life-steal effects. If you’ve curated such a requirement for your characters, I highly recommend using the best materials on them.
4Have A Dedicated Home Base
One For All
Alas, wedon’t have resource sharing among bases, and that’s a con inAtelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land. You canbuild facilities at different locations throughout the map, but the resources aren’t shared across those bases.
Atelier Yumia Reveals Opening Movie, World Details, And More
All the information you need before you dive into Aladiss next month.
That’s why having one base with all the resources is better. I’m glad I don’t have to manually put the resources in crates, which is a good feature. However, the lack of resource-sharing among bases is a con that you can’t ignore.
That’s why it’s better tostick to one base for everything. As you progress through the game and unlock new regions, you’ll get access tonew building zones, but I suggest sticking to the good old-school Atelier base in the Ligneus region.
3Use The Guide
A Handy Tool
You can press the Tab key to the character screen, where you’ll find multiple menu options. Pioneering effort, Battle Settings, and Strategy, and one among them is the Guide option.
What’s interesting about the Guide option is that it gives you a rough estimate of items discovered. Not only do you get to read their effects, what they do, and their ingredients, but sometimes you can see their gathering spots, which is a nice addition to the game.
Rather than going to YouTube or an interactive map to search for an item’s hotspot, you can open the guide to read about the item. I highly recommend following the guide since it also shows where you can find monsters, items, and other collectibles.
2Strategize The Skill Tree
Prioritize What Matters
Everyone’s got their way of playing the game. You can focus on Exploration, Combat, or Synthesis and invest precious skill points and energy prisms to level up your respective skills. However,I don’t recommend investing much in EXP skills.
Before you say that EXP matters for leveling up and come with forks and pitches at me, hear me out. You’ll be fighting many monsters, and once you progress to theend-game areas, enemies will grant your characters a lot of EXP.
You don’t have to level up each character separately. Mostly, all of your characters will level up simultaneously, and as you explore more regions, fight formidable monsters, and get rare drops, the game will yield chunky EXP as a byproduct.
That’s why I don’t suggest investing much into EXP skills. Besides that, Irecommend investing in rare drop rate and synthesis efficiency.Having better equipment will help you in the long run.
1Don’t Speedrun The Story
It’s An Experience, Not A Rat Race
Okay, so I’ve got a habit of speedrunning games, but I did take my sweet time to finishAtelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land.Everyone’s got their playstyle, and I’m no one to dictate.
But hear me out. Thegame feels like anime, where we progress through the story, relate to characters, engage with friendly side quests, and progress through different regions.
I had my doubts at first, but after learning the ropes, I enjoyed it and wish I had more time to cherish the game. If you have ample time, I suggest completing the game and taking things slow.
You canclear the game inless than 20 hours, but that’ll still leave you with unfinished side quests and exploration objectives. Irecommend exploring regions, building bases, and avoiding speedrunning the game.
