Among all the new Assassin’s Creed announcements during yesterday’s Ubisoft Forward showcase, the French publisher also revealed an upcoming expansion for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla that will put an end to a number of storylines in the game. The Last Chapter will be a free DLC for all Assassin’s Creed Valhalla owners.

While we didn’t receive much information on Eivor’s new journey with this expansion, a brief teaser revealed that Eivor is apparently preparing to leave the Viking camps for a new destination, but there is no clue on where it could be. Some fans believe that The Last Chapter would take Eivor to Vinland, a mysterious place in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla that we have already heard of a few times in the game.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has already received three expansions so far, all of which were paid DLCs. It remains unknown whether playing the previous DLCs would be crucial to understand the conclusion of The Last Chapter, but since it’s free, it seems like the new expansion will mostly focus on the events of the main story campaign of Valhalla.

Regarding the fact that Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be available next year as a new entry from the series, The Last Chapter could be the final expansion for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. During the announcement of Mirage, the lead narrative designer mentioned that we will meet some familiar faces in the game from the previous Assassin’s Creed game, but it is unlikely to see Eivor appear anywhere in the game as the events of Mirage happen 20 years earlier than Valhalla’s story.

Unlike Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Mirage won’t be an RPG experience as the developers want it to be a true comeback to the origins of the series by putting the focus on stealth gameplay mechanics. So, if you want something as big as Valhalla, you may need to wait until the arrival of Assassin’s Creed Infinity.
