After insisting that therequired PC specsfor Assassin’s Creed Shadows would make it impossible for the game to run on Steam Deck, it seems like Ubisoft has managed to make it work just in time for launch.
In a post onX, Ubisoft announced that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be compatible with the Steam Deck at launch, after initially saying earlier that it wouldn’t meet the minimum requirements.

They haven’t given any details beyond that it will be supported, saying that they are still “awaiting the level of classification from Valve”, which presumably means determining whether the game will be listed as “Playable” or “Verified” on its Steam store page, and which specific features will be supported on the handheld.
How Will It Compare To Consoles?
Ubisoftrecently went over the performance modesthat will be present in the PS5 version of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, summarizing the three different settings and how fans should expect them to run on both base PS5 and PS5 Pro in terms of frame rate and ray tracing support.
More generally, they’ve stated that itshould be able to run at 60 fps upscaled at 4K resolutionon not just PS5, but Xbox Series X as well.

Meanwhile, it remains to be seen what level of support Assassin’s Creed Shadows will actually have for the Steam Deck; we don’t know what frame rate players can expect, but hopefully it’ll be at least 30 fps.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows Pre-Order Numbers Are “Solid” Claims Ubisoft
Assassin’s Creed Shadows pre-order numbers align with Assassin’s Creed Odyssey according to Ubisoft.
The last two games in the series,Assassin’s CreedMirage and Valhalla, are both listed as “Playable” on their Steam pages, the specifics of which vary from game to game, although their system requirements are markedly lower than those for Shadows.

In general, though, it means that they aren’t specially optimized for the Steam Deck, but are fully functional and can be run on the handheld without any unique technical or performance issues.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is set to release on March 20,after multiple rounds of delays, although the specificrelease timingswill vary depending on region and platform, even between the different storefronts on PC.

The game can be pre-loaded on Xbox Series X|S now, and pre-loading will open for players who pre-ordered on PC on March 17, and on PS5 on March 18.
