In case you didn’t know, it’s been a full 12 months since Arrowhead Games Studios has releasedHelldivers 2on PS5 and PC. To mark the occasion, the developers are giving away swag to all players.
There’s not just one gift for players, either, as Arrowhead has a few surprises in store for players, though there is one caveat.

Helldivers 2 First Anniversary Comes At The Worst Time For Players
Over onTwitter/X, Arrowhead Game Studios tweeted a new “Patriotic Announcement.”
“In recognition of the Helldivers' service, bravery, and obedient fulfillment of their duty over the past year, High Command has authorized the bequethment of a commemorative gift to all Super Destroyers. Helldivers may accept their gift with immense gratitude at their Armory,” states the studio, while showing a new armor players will be getting for free (pictured above).

It doesn’t end there for the freebies. Arrowhead is calling on all players to comment “F” on any of the studio’s social media channels, and if the quota is met, High Command will reward players with a new cape called “Emblem of Freedom.”
Sony Reportedly Cancels Two More Live Service Projects
Bend Studio and Bluepoint Games' live service projects have been canned, but the studios aren’t shutting down.
Here’s the kicker: Players can’t redeem these rewards since yesterday since the PlayStation Network is suffering a server outage, which still hasn’t been resolved today. If PC players think they’re spared the two games run on the same servers, you can’t play as well.

This also means Helldivers 2 players can’t even redeem the rewards Arrowhead has planned for the player base. While the studio will work around the server outage, it’s just a funny sight to see.
If you haven’t played Helldivers 2 yet, it’s third-person, multiplayer-focused game that relies heavily on live service. Before you balk at that last sentence, this is the good kind of live service, where players don’t feel like the devs gimped the content to deliver it at a later date.

The game has gotten awards and massive critical acclaim. Our review of it was very positive, as it mentions, “ldivers 2 offers endless opportunity for wild action, hilarious friendly fire deaths, and explosions as far as the eye can see. Its simple yet addicting gameplay loop, combined with an incredible level of polish, makes this one of the must-play games of 2024.”
Sony seems to be banking on the game’s success even more, as the company hasannounced a live-service movie adaptationis in the works.
