Ibis Series CEL 240 Weapons Overview

CEL 240 has some of the most obnoxious weapons in the game to deal with. Here’s how to dodge each attack:

Description

How To Dodge

Laser Bits and Energy Sword swipe

CEL 240’s bits will form “wings” to the left and right of it. The boss then flies toward the player while firing lasers from its drone bits. After a short duration, CEL 240 slashes with its Coral sword, sending out an energy wave at the player. After the attack is over, CEL 240 will stand still on the ground for a short duration. The boss will always start the fight with this attack.

This is the best attack for you to get assured damage.

If you have ~280 Boost speed, you’re able to continue moving to the left and dodge all the lasers.

Quick Boost directly to the left to dodge the sword swing, so your AC ends up right next to where CEL 240 lands foryou to stagger it.

If you don’t have the Boost Speed to dodge its lasers, you’re able to tank through all the minor laser hits and fire two stun needles to stun the Ibis unit while it’s flying toward you.

Charged Beam

CEL 240 will fly away and charge an energy beam. After a short delay, it will fire this weapon directly at the player. This beam fires in two modes - a single, concentrated large beam or multiple smaller beams.

Your AC will chirp twice to warn you about this attack. At the end of the second tone,Quick Boost to the left or right to dodge the attack.

If your Quick Boost doesn’t cover enough distance, the concentrated Beam’s AoE will still tag you. If your build falls into that category, jump and fly upward after the second tone to dodge the beam and its explosion.

If the Ibis is firing multiple beams, continue moving to the left or right after your Quick Boost to dodge the rest of the attack.

Energy Waves

CEL 240 fires 2 or 3 energy waves at the player. Both of these variations will cause your AC to chirp two warning alarms and paint a red square over CEL 240’s energy blades. The first shot will always be aimed at the player’s current location.

This attack can be a pain to dodge, especially in phase 2. Continue circle strafing to the left or right and Quick Boost to dodge the waves aimed directly at you. Afterward, reverse direction, and start strafing in the opposite direction to dodge the waves aimed in the direction you’re moving at.

If CEL 240 is only firing two waves, then the second wave will be fired in the direction the player is moving at.

The vertical tracking on this attack is pretty horrid, so free-falling is also a good option to dodge these attacks.

If CEL 240 is firing three waves, it will fire two waves immediately at the player’s current location, pause, then fire the third one toward where the player is headed.

If you’re too close when CEL 240 starts this attack (within ~130m), Quick Boost diagonally away from CEL 240 to give yourself more time to get away from these attacks.

Cross Wave

CEL 240 fires an ‘X’ shaped energy wave toward the player. This attack will cause your AC to chirp two warning tones and paint a red square over the CEL 240’s energy blades.

When your AC plays its two warning tones, dodge in the opposite direction of your current movement after the second tone ends. This will usually mess with this attack’s tracking enough to dodge it.

Energy Blade Swings (Horizontal combo)

Phase 2 only.CEL 240 creates an energy blade with each of its 6 drone bits then swings them at the player three times.

Dodge the first swing by Quick Boosting directly to the left before the blades start approaching you. Alternatively, you could also jump and fly upward to dodge this attack.

The first swing is slightly diagonal to the ground

The second swing is a vertical energy wave directly at the player

Dodge the second swing (the vertical energy wave) by immediately Quick Boosting to the left or right.

Then there’s a pause, followed by a massive horizontal sweep that covers the ground.

Dodge the third swing by flying higher into the air.Do not stay on the ground to dodge this attack.

Alternatively, if you are running tank treads and don’t want to tank through this series of attacks, Quick Boost to the left to dodge the first swing, and immediately start moving away from CEL 240 to dodge the rest of the attacks.

Energy Blade Swing (Vertical)

Phase 2 only.Vertical Swings are predicated with CEL 240 flying high above and away from you before curving back, powering up its blades, then swinging the blades vertically at you.

Be patient andwait for the blades to be powered up and heading toward you, then Quick Boost to the side.

Laser Dash

Phase 2 only.CEL 240 rises into the air and charges energy around itself. It then becomes a giant glowing ball of red Coral energy and grows energy blades from its sides. ICEL 240 then dashes around the arena before dashing toward the player three times. On the first two dashes, CEL 240 angles its blades at 45 degree angles, making jumps difficult against it. In the final dash, its blades are angled parallel to the ground, making Quick Boosting to the left or right a more dangerous idea. At the end of the attack,CEL 240will pause for a moment on the ground before resuming movement.

Stay on the ground and Quick Boost to the right against the first pass.

On the second pass, dodge to the left.

On the third pass, jump upward and fly above it to dodge the attack.

After this attack, keep an eye on where it lands because it leaves itself wide open for a stagger.

Energy Blade Catch

CEL 240 stands still and extends all of its blades outward before slamming them all together in front of it.

There are gaps in the blade’s arrangement before they crash together. Look for those openings, jump, and quick boost toward one of those gaps.

It may not feel like it at times, butthere are a wide array of builds that can beat CEL 240. Out of all of them, there are two that are worth focusing on if you’re struggling with the boss:high-speed builds and extremely tanky builds.

Best Arm Weapons For High Speed Builds:

Best Back Weapons For High Speed Builds:

High speed builds want to use a lightweight, bipedal AC with close range weapons like the Zimmermans ormelee weaponsto deal a colossal amount of damage while CEL 240 is staggered. More specifically, dual Zimmermans are amazing in this fight since they will help capitalize on every moment CEL 240 flies too close to you. From there, firing yourshoulder weaponsor swapping to a second weapon like the Pile Bunker for damage will help you chunk through both of CEL 240’s phases.

While you’re building this mech, you’ll want tokeep your Boost Speed at around 280so you can have an easier time side strafing through CEL 240’s opening attack and collecting a free stagger at the beginning of the fight.

Lightweight builds will also give you a much easier time of dodging through CEL 240’s attacks. Some attacks, like the drone bit’s laser salvos, will be more difficult for slower builds to dodge through. Additionally, dodging charged laser shots and the cross energy wave will be much easier when your Quick Boost is lighter and easier to use.

Best Arm Weapons for Tanky Builds:

Best Back Weapons For Tanky Builds:

Tanky builds will want to use treads and a durable body to tank through CEL 240’s attacks and then get the stagger from unleashing consistent damage in return.Dual Zimmermans and Gatling Guns both play a similar role of high direct damage and high stagger at close range. Songbirds and the Stun Needle Launcher will stagger CEL 240 at midrange, while also dealing high direct damage if you staggered CEL 240 with your arm weapons. .

Ideally, you’ll have close to 15,000+ AP, so you can take hits and continue firing your Songbirds and Stun Needle Launcher at mid-range.With that much health, you don’t have to learn CEL 240’s attack patterns as thoroughly as a lightweight build. The only thing you would need to keep an eye out for is how to dodge the more obvious and damaging hits while making the most of any opportunity where the boss is staying still long enough for you to land a Songbird or a Needle Launcher shot. .

Best Strategy Against CEL 240

One of the first, and most important lessons to remember with this boss isdo not dodge without a purpose.CEL 240 should be treated like a proper FromSoft boss where fearfully mashing dodge roll will only hasten your death.

This boss in acrazy fast opponentwhere keeping a lock on it can be a challenge at times. If you’re having trouble with keeping an eye on it,activate hard lockand fight it from there.

Ibis Series CEL 240 Phase 1

In phase 1, CEL 240 will open up with a salvo of lasers from its drone bits before flying toward you and swiping with its sword. Move or Quick Boost to the left to avoid both the lasers and the sword swipe. This will also place your AC right next to where CEL 240will land after its attack. Stagger it and deal as much damage as possible during this time.

You can dodge this opening attack by dodging to the right instead, but you’ll give up the chance to stagger CEL 240 afterward.

After that, the boss will fly away from you and the fight will properly begin. Stay on the ground and keep moving to the left so you can keep dodging the drone bits' lasers. If your build is on the slower side, Quick Boost just before each cluster of lasers is fired at you. Move closer to CEL 240 between dodges, and whenever it comes close to you, deal damage with your ranged weapons and build up its stagger bar.

Keep an eye out for each time it uses its opening laser salvo + sword sweep attack because that should be a free stagger every single time.Once its staggered, that’s your opportunity to deal as much damage as possible to it, so unload your high Direct Hit damage weapons and the fight is over! Woo-hoo!

Ibis Series CEL 240 Phase 2

It’s still alive. The fight isn’t over yet.

After you’ve destroyed IB-01: CEL 240 the first time, you’ll be given front row seats to the absolute horror of watching this boss resurrect itself with a new HP bar. It’ll fly around the arena while Ayre and Walter speak to you. During this time,CEL 240can’t take damage even if it’s still launching laser shots in your direction, so don’t waste your ammunition until its second health bar appears.

If you’re using vertical missiles, fire them when Ayre starts saying “it’s resonating with the ambient Coral…”. During this time, the CEL 240 will also be holding still until Ayre finishes speaking. If you timed it correctly, the missiles should rain down the moment the second health bar appears.

In its second phase, CEL 240 will be faster, more aggressive, and feature new variations of its phase 1 attacks. However, in phase 2, CEL 240 becomes far more predictable with its attacks since some of its new attacks will have the same follow-ups afterward.

The biggest fears from this phase are getting tagged by its lightning-fast energy waves — and being in the air when you shouldn’t be.Get comfortable moving in one direction and immediately Quick Boosting in the opposite direction to dodge phase 2’s energy waves and charged beams. But, as long as you play patiently and react correctly to its tells, you’ll avoid most of the damage in this phase and be rewarded with windows of opportunity to put this boss down one final time.

The hardest attack to get used to in this phase is its three swing energy blade combo. The third swing is a large AoE that covers almost every grounded Quick Boost option.Look out for any single vertical energy waves, because CEL 240will always launch that attack before doing the large sweep.
