Surviving in the Outlands isn’t an easy task. Here’s a detailed list of the best weapons to use if you want to bring home the win.
There are 26 legends you can currently choose from, spread across five classes: Assault, Skirmisher, Recon, Support, and Controller. Each legend has a passive ability, a tactical ability, and an ultimate ability, whilecharacter classesgive you multiple perks that help to distinguish each individual role.
Apex Legends is a complexhero shooter, and it can be difficult to figure out what legend will best suit your playstyle, so we’ll review the best legends to play in 2025.
I determined my ranking for this list based on who I feel can have the most overall impact on games, and I’ve included at least one legend from each class.
The question that drives this list is: How can I win more games? With that in mind, I believe a strong team composition is vital for success in Apex, so I’ve focused on highlighting the legends that fill each specific role with the highest efficiency.
It’s Okay To Be Afraid
Assassin’s Instinct- Highlight nearby visible enemies who are low on health. You’ll walk faster while crouching and have improved wall climbing.
Shadow Pounce- Pounce forward. Hold to charge and go further distances.
Forged Shadows- Create shadows around you that block damage and regenerate over time. Your shadows will regenerate upon knockdowns.
Chase down your foes with relentless pressure and high mobility under the cover of shadows. Revenant does everything you’d expect a synthetic nightmare would do.
Shadow Pounce is a simple, but extremelyuseful mobility tool, and paired with the skirmisher class perk, charged knock, that refreshes your tactical ability and gives you HP regeneration, you’ll be able to pounce multiple times during teamfights.
Revenant’s ultimate makes himan assassin that can take a hit.When you push enemy squads, use forged shadows to block damage, look to secure a knockdown to gain a shadow pounce charge, and reposition for safe shielding or further engagement.
Out of 26 legends, I felt Revenant deserved a spot on this list because of his ability to chase down enemies and secure the squad wipe.
Not only is his kit fundamentally perfect for assassin fans, but I personally love his overall character design, and find him really fun to play. If you like pressing the action, and striking fear into your foes, Revenant is the hitman you’re looking for.
Aggressive Utility
Gift from the Rift- Remotely access deathboxes to receive one item, including teammate banners, excludes shield cores.
Void Passage- Create a portal passageway through surfaces.
Void Nexus- Spawn a device that your squad can return to through a portal. Can be remotely accessed. Only two void nexuses can exist at one time.
Alter is the newest addition to the Apex roster, and has proven to be one of the strongest legends this season with her ability to transport your team through the void.
What makes Alter a great pick, is that your team willalways have a way out, or a way in.If you’re trapped in a corner with a team advancing, use Void Passage to travel through walls and surfaces, or teleport back to your Void Nexus.
Gift from the rift, Alter’s passive ability, is one of the most useful passives in the game. When teammates have been killed, you’ll be able to see their deathbox through walls and retrieve their banner remotely, so you don’t have to face the squad that’s waiting for you in the shadows.
I personally feel Alter is one of the strongest right now because she gives you additional ways to navigate the map, engage with enemy teams or escape from them, and safely retrieve ally banners.
Without a full squad, you’re at a huge disadvantage, and Alter has some great tools to help you get fallen squad members back in the fight, which is why she takes the number seven spot.
Rowenna To The Rescue
Savior’s Speed- Gain a burst of speed when running to a teammate out of tactical range, or when approaching ally banners or respawn beacons.
Radiant Transfer- Send energy to teammates, generating temporary shields for them and Conduit when in danger.
Energy Barricade- Deploy shield-jamming devices that damage and slow down enemies
There’s nothing more satisfying than getting a win after you undoubtedly saved the day by reviving and protecting your squad. When your team is under fire, use Radiant Transfer to grant them shields to block damage, and if you’re not in range,your passive will increase your movement speed so you can reach them before they perish.
Energy Barricade is a powerful ultimate because it allows you to disengage from unfavorable situations. If a squad is chasing you down, and you want no part of it, deploy your ultimate to create a massive barricade that damages and slows your attackers if they pass through it.

Having the tools to shield your teammates and buy them some time to heal, reload, and reposition is why playing Conduit can do wonders for your overall success rate.
Whether your team focuses on aggressively pushing, or defending positions, I’ve found Conduit adds so much value to any squad, so for her versatility and protection, she claims the number six spot.
Stealing To Survive
Eye for Quality- See nearby epic and legendary loot through walls, items can be pinged for teammates. Vaults can be opened without a key.
Burglar’s Best Friend- Teleport to hard-to-reach places or get out of trouble by throwing your Jump Drive bracelet.
Black Market Boutique- Place a portable device that lets you teleport nearby loot to your inventory. Each friendly or enemy legend can take up to two items. Ammo, small meds and ally banners are free.
Better guns mean better chances of survival, and Loba the loot legend knows how to hook you up.Being equipped with scopes, extended magazines, stockpiles of ammo, and shield batteries is what will help you win gunfightsthat last for long, and this is Loba’s specialty.
Loba’s passive allows you to see high-tier loot through walls, while her ultimate allows you and your team to remotely select items from nearby containers that are within a large radius around you. Pairing these two abilities together gives you the chance to locatepowerful weaponsand give your team an edge over the competition.
What I’ve discovered is that supplying your team with their preferred weapons and attachments is one of the best overall buffs a support can provide. I like to hunt down ultimate accelerants in order to open up shop as early as possible. This creates an invaluable power spike for your entire squad, which is why Loba makes the top five.

Tracker- See tracks left behind by your enemies. White ravens may also appear to guide you.
Eye of the Allfather- Briefly reveals hidden enemies, traps, and clues throughout structures in front of you.
Beast of the Hunt- Transform into the ultimate hunter, move faster, see cold tracks, and send out a white raven to locate enemies.
Bloodhound remains one of the strongest legends in the game becausehe provides incredible recon for your whole team. His tactical ability is easily one of the most useful tools in the game.
If you’re suddenly under fire and have no idea where it came from, or you just have a gut feeling that your prey are nearby, use your tactical to scan the area and reveal your enemies, even through walls.
If a squad was recently in your area, you’ll see footprints on the ground that you’re able to follow to their location. If no other teams are close by, you’ll encounter white ravens around the map that you can interact with to send them out in search of the nearest squad.
Bloodhound sits at number four because of his elite recon capabilities. I’ve found Bloodhound to be very versatile, giving you the option to play safe and avoid fights, or hunt down squads alongside aggressive legends like Octane or Ash.
Being able to see the location of an enemy that’s hiding in a building gives you and your squad a much higher chance of winning close-quarter battles, and that’s why I think Bloodhound is one of the best right now.
Strategic Defender
Nox Vision- Gain threat vision on enemies moving through your gas.
Nox Gas Trap- Place up to six canisters that release deadly Nox gas when shot or triggered by enemies.
Nox Gas Grenade- Blanket a large area in Nox gas from a distance.
Caustic is one of the strongest legends for very good reason. Utilizing poisonous gas traps and grenades, playing Caustic gives you the ability todefend a position and protect yourself from ambushes. Thinking one step ahead is crucial when playing the toxic trapper, so find a good spot and settle in.
If you’re in a high-tier loot area, and you can hear enemies close-by, place Nox Gas Traps near entry points to damage and slow ambushers. This provides your teammates with strong defensive capabilities, allowing for some peace of mind while looting, knowing your team will have an extra warning sign when opponents enter your area.

I’ve always been partial to characters that use traps for some reason. Whether it’s Teemo or Shaco fromLeague of Legends, or Junkrat fromOverwatch, I think controlling and defending certain areas is a unique playstyle that forces you to think ahead, and can be incredibly powerful in the right hands.
In Apex, Caustic is a trap character through and through and will help you fortify your position, making it difficult for squads to rush you. Nothing foils a plan quite like poisonous gas in the face followed by absurd amounts of gunfire, making Caustic a dangerous legend, and a solid pick for the top three.
Keep Your Team In The Fight
Combat Glide- Glide in the air for a few seconds.
Additionally, you can deploy your D.O.C to revive teammates, leaving you free to move and defend.
D.O.C Heal Drone- D.O.C heals all nearby allies and can be assigned to aid specific teammates from a distance.
D.O.C Halo- Throw D.O.C to activate the Halo Shield System. Players inside use health and shield consumables faster.
If you’re looking for a classic healer support, Lifeline is the choice for you. With a kit full of emergency response abilities and perks, you’ll play an essential role in keeping your teammates alive when you’re under attack.
The key to success with Lifeline is being ready to provide aid when the time comes, and always be close enough to your teammates to deploy your D.O.C to them from a distance to provide healing.
When your teammates have been knocked down, it’s your time to shine.Use D.O.C to revive your teammates for you, and deploy your ultimate to help your squad get back to full health and full shields. The protection, healing buffs, and speedy revives can mean the difference between returning to the lobby, or looting deathboxes.
I made Lifeline the runner-up for her ability to turn the tides of a losing battle. Healing teammates under fire provides massive sustain, but if someone does go down, hands-free revival means you have a good chance at stopping your opponents from pushing and wiping you out.
Dr. Ashleigh Reid
Predator’s Pursuit- Perform a dash while in mid-air.
Ash’s map will show the location of recent deathboxes.
Arc Snare- Throw a spinning snare that damages and tethers the first enemies who get close.
Phase Breach- Create a one-way portal to a targeted location.
Ash takes the top spot for herincredibly high kill potential and strong ability to engage enemy squads.Every piece of her kit is designed for you to be aggressive, so if you think you have what it takes to carry your squad and rack up the kills, Ash has everything you need.
Her tactical ability, Arc Snare, is a great way to set up a successful push. Arc Snare allows you to slow down your enemies and damage them, providing a chance to throw grenades, snipe, or push forward using your ultimate to get in position. This is an extremely powerful offensive tool, and is one of the reasons why I feel Ash is the most impactful legend in Apex currently.
As part of theassault class, the battle surge passive Ash receives is ideal for her kit. Battle Surge will give you increased movement and reload speeds, and will highlight your targets upon breaking their shields.
In my experience, the combination of movement abilities, crowd-control, and the opportunity to lead the way for your squad makes Ash the best legend to play in 2025.
