Comparisons betweenGame of ThronesandHouse of the Dragonare quite inevitable, and even actor Kristian Nairn thinks there are a lot of similarities between the two popular television franchises even though they are set in different times.

Nairn, who played the gentle giant Hodor in the original series, has become a notable star due to fans’ affection for his role. He only appeared in 23 episodes before his tragic death closed his chapter, but he remained an unforgettable character.

Even Irish actor Kristian Nairn feels Season 1 was so much better than its follow-up. He confessed this during an interview withScreen Rant:
Season 1 I think was off the charts. I think it was almost as good as Game of Thrones. I think it felt almost like a continuation, although it’s in the past, I felt like it was just the next episode or something.

This is brilliantly put as viewers could truly feel the connection between the original series and the prequel. The actor admitted that it makes him feel like he went to a different semester and he is part of the older generation, which is a great comparison.
On the other hand, he isn’t so impressed with Season 2, and this is not an isolated opinion. Many fans were also disappointed with the direction of the story, and for Nairn, it gives him a sense of feeling that it deviated too much from the heart ofGame of Thrones. “I do really like it, but to me it’s something different,” he said about the prequel’s second installment.

Although he promised to continue watching the show, he admitted he could not get the same vibe he felt when watching Season 1. Nairn’s commentary on the show remains positive, and it’s understandable since he knows the challenges and hardships of working on a television production as massive asGame of Thrones.
