While many are disappointed by the fact thatAlien: Blackoutturned out to be a mobile game, there is still aAliengame for PC and consoles coming from Cold Iron Studios. That being said, how muchAlienfans will actually be excited remains to be seen as FoxNext officially confirmed today that Cold Iron Studios’Aliengame will be a “massively multiplayer online shooter,” a far cry from the cult classic 2014 horror gameAlien: Isolation.

This confirmation actually came from within the press release forAlien: Blackout. After discussing the mobile game, FoxNext ends things off by saying “FoxNext Games’ studio, Cold Iron Studios, is also currently at work on a massively multiplayer online shooter set in theAliencinematic universe for consoles and PC.” While we still don’t have much information to go on or even a title, we at least now know that the game is still actively in development and unrelated to recently announcedAlien: Blackout.

FoxNext and Cold Iron Studios had hinted that the game was an “online shooter"in previous statements about their partnership, but its inclusion within theAlien: Blackoutpress release confirms its genre and the massive scale the developers are aiming for. It is likely a far cry from the horror roots manyAlienfans were hoping the next game would tap into, but I can’t help but be slightly intrigued by the idea of a game likeDestinyset within the universe ofAlien.

There is also a fairly good chance that we will see Amanda Ripley in this game as well. Fox is showing great interest in utilizing theAlien: IsolationandAlien: Blackoutcharacter, outright stating today that “20th Century Fox will partner with a wide range of storytellers and innovators to bring this epic chapter in theAlienUniverse to life, with even more entries in Amanda Ripley’s story soon to be announced.” That being said, this is pure speculation.

If you’d rather play a horror game set with with universe ofAlien,Creative Assembly and SEGA’sAlien: Isolationis still available for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox Oneand can be picked up on Amazon. For those of you more interested in upcomingAliengames, you can check outAlien: Blackout’sreveal trailer below.
