Remedy Entertainment’s highly anticipated game,Alan Wake 2, was released in 2023 and managed to sweep at every major award show. The first game,Alan Wake, was released in 2010 and it took more than a decade of development to create this exciting survival horror video game.

UnlikeAlan Wake, which is an action-adventure game,Alan Wake 2is a survival horror game but the latest update has made the game less scary. A new highly requested option now allows gamers to tune down the horror flashes. A lot of bugs were fixed and another useful feature has been added to the game: Chapter Select. With this feature, gamers can now choose to play any mission in the game that they have previously unlocked.

Alan Wake 2now allows gamers to tone down the horror elements of the game

Alan Wake 2‘s update 1.15 officially rolled out for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC on 31st January 2024 and Remedy Entertainment has now provided gamers with the option to tune down the horror flashes. So, if you were struggling with spooky horror flashes, now you can manually make the game less scary by choosing between Low and Normal horror flash visual and audio intensity.

Apart from this, a lot of changes were made to the game’s performance, visuals, audio and haptics, UI, and gameplay. The whole list of changes was revealed ina blog postonAlan Wake‘s official website. With gamers’ feedback, Remedy is constantly fixing bugs and adding new features to the game that make the gaming experience much better. Another update, 1.16, was released on 8th February 2024, that fixed minor bugs in the game.

Another major addition to the game is a “Chapter Select” option. With the latest Chapter Select menu, gamers can now choose to play any mission in the game that they have previously unlocked. As per the blog post, “Using this feature loads a pre-made save game regardless of your own progression.” This feature will now make things easier for Trophy and Achievement hunters.

Alan Wake 2, which is developed by Remedy Entertainment and published by Epic Games Publishing, was released for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S on 16 June 2025. The game was nominated formultiple Game of the Year awardsand managed to win in the categories: Best Game Direction, Best Narrative, and Best Art Direction.
